"Cmon babe, just try it." Joseph groaned holding a bottle of beer in my face, I shook my head shoving it away.

"I don't drink." I yelled over the pounding music. I looked around Lanes house, Joseph had told me that Lane invited us to one of his parties.

I don't know why I agreed to come, I'm not used to this type of crowd. There were girls dancing between boys with their tops off and gulping beer down so hungrily is spilled down their chin.

"You'll like it."

I shook my head again, "Can you please stop asking."

He sighed, "Yea ok, sorry I just wanted you to have fun."

I smiled up at him, "I can have fun without getting drunk."

"I doubt it. But, you never know."

"I'm sorry, I know you want to have fun and I'm just holding you back." I pulled my sleeves further down my wrist wrapping my arms around myself.

"No, it's ok, really. Honestly I'd much rather be spending time with you." He grabbed my hand and pulled me outside the house.

The music was muffled but occasionally some drunk would stumble out making the music become clear for a second, Joseph walked me over to across the street.

We sat on the grass and he held my hand, "I want to get to know you, better I mean."

"What do you want to know?" I sighed, looking up at the moon.

"Oh, I don't know uh.." He blew air out of his lips and fell onto his back. "What's your favorite number?"

"Two."

"Why?"

"It's just a pretty number," I shrugged. "What about you?"

"Eleven."

"Why?"

He smirked, "You'll find out one day."

"Why not now?"

He sighed standing up, "One day." He whispered.

November 7, 2015 (Present Day)

Terrence wanted to take me to church.

Guess I forgot his family consisted of strong Christians, he's not as into it.

I guess I agreed, I haven't been to church since I was eleven. Terrence's family used to take me when my dad wasn't home, or passed out from a night of drinking.

So here I was, standing outside of one of the five sanctuaries in this town.

I gazed at the stone cross on the pedestal squirting water out into the stone bowl surrounding it, fountains must hate their life, they just live the exact same way every second.

I guess that's what we have in common.

Terrence walked up next to me from looking for his bible in car, he had dressed up nice today. "You ready?" He asked nudging his head towards the church.

I wrapped my arms around myself watching couples and families hurrying to get out of the oncoming winter winds into the brick building, I can't remember the last time I prayed.

Discomfort settled into my stomach and I found myself slowly inching towards Terrence.

I nodded meekly looking down, Terrence walked to the front of me and grabbed my shoulders.
