|11.| Breathe

April 4, 2011

"Piggy." Andrew whispered from his seat behind me throwing a small wad of paper at me.

Only ten more minutes of this torture.

Its fifth period and we were in Russian Lit, the only freshman through Senior conjoined class I have.

Joseph, who was sitting beside me, looked over his shoulder at Andrew. Giving him an icy glare that shut him up for the rest of the class period.

When the bell rang I gathered my things quickly and walked out of the classroom, a hand grasped my wrist and for a second I panicked.

Feeling my chest constrict I looked up, breathing out a sigh of relief when I only saw Joseph.

"Hey..Joseph." I greeted smiling.

"Does he bother you often?" He asked, pointing behind him to where Andrew was laughing with some cheerleaders and jocks over by the lockers.

I shook my head, "No. Just a little name calling here and there nothing too...drastic."

He nodded and ran a hand through his hair, "Whenever he bothers you, tell me okay? I don't care if it's only name calling, tell me."

I looked down leaning from foot to foot, "You don't have to it's really okay, it's nothing compared to what he-"

I shut myself up, realizing my mistake. With wide eyes I clutched my books to my chest and took a step back from Joseph.

"What he...what?"

"Nothing." I squeaked. "But to change the subject, how are you."

He chuckled, "I'm good, seeing you makes my days get better."

I smiled, playing with the hem of my sweater.

"You're really cheesy." I say chuckling.

"Only for you."

"Oh God." I groaned, laughing.

He took a step closer to me, silencing my laughs. Looking down at me he grabbed my hand, holding it to his chest.

"Hey Naomi?" He whispered, looking into my eyes.

I gulped, "Y-Yes?"

Leaning down a little he pressed his forehead against mine, "Be my girlfriend?"

Feeling my heart start going ape against my ribcage, I closed my eyes.

Ever since the day he asked me to the dance he would always want to talk to me and spend time with me, I would be lying if I say I didn't gain feelings for him over this.

He was also my first friend since Terrence, maybe dating him could bring us closer.

Maybe dating him would make me forget about Terrence.

I nodded shyly, "I would love to be your girlfriend."

A smile broke out into his face and he hugged me, "You just made me the happiest man alive."

I giggled, "Don't over exaggerate."

He grinned pulling away and kissing my cheek, "I'm not."

Hearing the bell ring, I was brought back to reality.
