[Tw: Underage drinking]
"...waiting on divine intervention..."

━━THERE WAS A time where Aurora watched a movie. Not just any movie, one specifically about teenagers getting up to absolute nonsense, she'd watched it with her dad and vaguely recalled a party being stopped by the cops.
Blue and red lights flashed across the screen and a wailing alarm pierced her little ears as teens scrambled across the yard to get away. She remembers thinking they were overreacting. The police surely wouldn't do much to them besides detain them for the night, right?
But then she got older, realized that; no they were not overreacting. Yes, the police could do nothing more than detain them and add a single black dot onto their record. And that in and of itself could change a lot.
Aurora had watched another movie; this time, the parents ended up crashing the party. Had the teenager overreacted when they tried to run away the next day? Maybe at the time, she thought so but as Rory found herself outside of Liz's house with a ringing cellphone in the palm of her hand and her dad's contact smack dab in the middle of the screen, she though; perhaps running away would be the best option.
That, or she just disappears.
Only one of those were possible unfortunately.
And her dad would only wait so long before he called Happy and Happy would check her room and find nothing and no one besides the two little fluffy creatures.
So she mentally took a deep breath and prepared herself for the conversation about to take place. A single swipe allowed the buzzing and ringing to stop.
"Hi, Dad." The music could still be heard faintly behind her, she might be able to pass it off as music playing the background while she studied.
"Hi, Dove, just calling to check in on you and let you know I'll be home soon." As much as Rory hated her father's sense of timing, she missed him more and allowed herself to relax at the sound of his voice. "I'm good, Dad. Just missing you, is all."
He made a sympathetic hum at the back of his throat, "I know, Ro, I miss you too. And━is that music?" Her heart jumped to her throat, she never did like lying to her parents. "I━yeah. I'm studying and you know music helps me concentrate, so..."
"Oh, what're you studying for?" He sounded suspicious. Or maybe she was paranoid.
She let out a breath through her mouth. "Uhm, Chemistry. We uh, we have this group project━I told you about that, right?━Anyway, we were grouped together so I'm just starting on my part."
"I thought you said you didn't get a chance to speak to your group yet?" Shit. "I spoke to them in class. Today." If Aurora could, she'd punch the universe (̶a̶u̶t̶h̶o̶r̶), because just right then, someone yelled something about more beer and it started a chain of victorious yells that echoed into the receiver of her phone.
