"...I'll come back..."

━━PETER PARKER was tired. He'd stayed up all night trying to figure out what the weird purple glowing thing was, the furthest he'd gotten was realizing it was encased in metal armouring━man made.

The glowing purple mess was possibly alien technology, meaning someone was combining their automation with the odd outer-space ones. He'd told Ned so, when they were in Workshop, both prying at the metal to see if they could get the purple ball out.

   It was unsuccessful.

During their endeavour with the mass of metal and purple, Ned Leeds' phone buzzed with an incoming call. It was an unknown number, but he'd picked up nevertheless.

"Hello?" Peter glared at his friend in bewilderment, how had he picked up the phone while they were busy with this?

"Oh, hi Rory! Yeah, he's here." Ned spared a glance at Peter and watched as his face turned intrigued. "Right, yeah, we were supposed to do that, weren't we? Uhm, I'll ask and let you know."

The fluffy haired teen craned his neck to attempt to listen in on their conversation, but it ended before he could get more than a snippet. "Thanks, bye Ned!" Aurora Stacy's sugary voice greeted as a flustered Ned greeted back. "Bye, Rory!"

Once the phone call had ended━it really had, Peter checked━Ned was bombarded with questions from his superhero best friend. "What did she say? She asked for me? Was━was she angry?"

"Dude!" An annoyed sound left Ned as he tried to calm the boy down, "She only asked for you because we didn't show for the thing this morning."

   "Show up for what?"

"Did you hit your head last night? The chemistry assignment!"

"That was today?" Peter's eyes widened as he checked the date on his phone. "We were supposed to do that today?" He asked again.

"Yes, Peter. She also wanted to know if we could try again later today." Ned sighed; his attention once again shifted to the glowing metal thing on the table. "What are we going to do about that?"

"I don't know, I'll try to get it open, maybe I'll get more clues about the guy with the wings from last night." Peter hit it hard with the hammer head, it caused a loud sound to echo around the room. They both jumped back and glanced at the teacher. Uncaring, he only muttered something about keeping your fingers away from the blade.

"I've gotta figure out what this thing is and who makes it." The Parker boy stated as they turned back to the table. "We'll go to the lab after class and run tests." Ned offered.
