"...Maybe then, Tony and Pepper would be there..."

━━AURORA STARK was falling.
And no, that sentence didn't end with "━in love." The blonde, blue-eyed teenager was falling to her death for the umpteenth time. She'd jumped through the hole in the elevator roof, trying to reach Spiderman's hand but it was useless, whether she'd been too short or waited too long to jump━it didn't matter, the point was that she was still falling.
"Rory!" Spiderman had screamed. And Liz too. She realized that another voice shouted, and found that her own scream mixed with theirs.
Everything was happening again. The difference was that Liz and the others had gotten to safety on time and Rory was all alone in her dying plunge.
The fall felt like it lasted hours as she watched the hero's web fall after her outstretched hand, and for some reason, a sick sense of Deja-vu bubbled in her stomach and a flash of a building that wasn't this one shot passed her eyes.
It wasn't one she knew, but all the same felt so familiar.
Aurora came to a rough stop, with a web wrapped around her wrist and a cry still dancing along her tongue until it died out. "You're okay. You're okay." The red masked hero reassured her as he slowly pulled her by the web and grasped her cold fingers when she was close enough.
Aurora felt her world spin when she looked beneath her, "Hey, hey, don't look down. You're gonna be okay." Spiderman coaxed as he brought her closer to safety. Rory blinked the tears away from her eyes, owlishly, feeling more and more drained as the seconds passed by excruciatingly slow.
"I've got you, Rory. You're okay."
The blonde stayed silent as she was hauled up to safety by two of the guards and her friends, and pulled into a frantic hug by Liz. "So, uh, is everyone okay?" Spiderman asked once she'd settled on solid ground.
She gave a dazed nod of her head, and stayed staring at him.
Until his web broke and it was him that went soaring towards the bottom, instead of her. A tiny flying robotic spider flew after him as Mr. Harrington thanked the falling, arachnid superhero.
"Are you really friends with Peter Parker?!"
"Flash!"
The group walked down the flights of stairs, tiredly, the adrenalin of the day had faded and the joy they'd felt at having won fizzled out with each step. Liz was shaking, clutching Aurora like she was her lifeline, and drinking in shaky gulps of air.
"I'm so sorry, I should've made you go first." Liz broke the silence between the two, with a defeated sigh as she hung her head. "What?" Rory frowned.
