If you are wondering what happened with my eulogy, I buried it under Eric's tomb stone, exactly one year ago.
Its Eric's one year Angelversary. Today is a tough day. I woke up to the sound of rain falling down my window. Its not a great way to start the day, but at least its a start.
I got up and went to my vanity mirror and sat down. I took out the ring I was given exactly one year ago by Rose, the old lady I met in the hospital while visiting Eric. She told me they already met before he went into a coma. She gave me a ring that said "Best Sister. ~Eric" and I've treasured it ever since.
My phone has been ringing off the hook today. Calls from the hospital, church, my friends, family, and even Rose. I answered all of them, which was a hassle. I didn't want today to come because I never thought it would. I thought he would live.
"I thought he would live!" I yell while standing up from the chair and kicking it back, which resulted in hitting my wall. I broke down in tears, ignoring the doorbell. I was curled up on the floor and I heard footsteps. I clutched the pillow I had grabbed while falling, even tighter hoping no one would come in my room. With my luck, I heard multiple steps stop. I saw John, Marissa, Morgan, Robert, Tom, and Kennedy come in. I turned my head back down and sobbed into my pillow. Thats all I've been doing for the past year. Cry. In total since my brother died, I've missed two weeks of school. Eric passed away April 22nd, at 6:42pm. Through then, I managed to be social during the summer because I didn't have school to distract me. Now, I have graduation. I have to graduate without him.
Thinking that, I cry more. John sits down next to me, trying to hug me, but instead he rests my head in his lap. The rest of my friends sit down next to me. They know I was very close to Eric, even more than my parents. We had so many secrets and jokes, that no one would understand.
"I can't take this pain." Is what I managed to get out.
"Rach." Tom said scooting closer and hugged me. Soon the rest of them, one by one, hugged me.
"He was to young. See people shouldn't be as stupid to drink and drive. I thought they would have enough common sense." Said sitting up. Kennedy came over and whipped my tears with her sleeve.
"There are tissues right there." I said pointing to my vanity. We all laughed lightly and she handed me the box.
"Its empty.. figures. Oh well." I say tossing the boxing into the trash. While its in the air i head Robert say "She shoots... and she scores!" With managed another laugh out of me.
"Well... you may want to get changed." I heard Morgan say.
"Huh?" I looked at her. I gave everyone a glance and noticed they were wearing black.
"The ceremony your parents wanted to have. Not to be rude, bet they're a mess." Marissa said.
"Ya I know. I'll get up." I said going into my closet. I picked out a new dress my mom got me. It was a black pencil dress, with black heels, the earring I wore to the funeral, the ring, and the infinity necklace from John. I brushed my teeth and did my makeup. I didn't want to do my hair, but I put it in curls and a hair clip. I walked out and got smiles from my friends, who were waiting outside the door.
"There is a thing called a personal bubble... which is now popped." I said smiling the smaller smile I could manage.
"Sorry.., sorry." They all said and walked down the stairs leaving me alone.
"Now Im alone!" I yelled jokingly. I walked downstairs, and I was embraced by my mom and dad, who didn't look too happy, or too sad.
"Hey there sweetheart." My mom said kissing my cheek.
"Hi mom, dad." I said with a smile.
"You look great. Just like your mother." My dad said hugging me.
"Thank you." I said and smiled. My parents left early just to be alone, anyways thats whats been happening for the past year.
"Hey you." John said kissing me.
"Ahhem." My friends said and we turned to them. We just laughed but I though of a way to make them feel more awkward. I grabbed John by the chin lightly, and turned him to me and kissed him. He was stunned but kiss back.
"Gross!" Morgan said with a laugh.
"Get a room!" Robert yelled.
"Alright. Rachel has a room." John said grabbing my arm and bringing me upstairs.
"Well.. we're alo- whats this?" I said. My room was filled with rose petals and candles.
"Its not the most romantic..." I heard John say. I turned around and John was on one knee.
"John..." I said smiling.
"I know this isn't the best day, but I didn't do this just to make you happy. Well I want you to be happy, but I also love you." He said, kind of lost.
"Well I.." He said pulling a small, white box out of his jacket.
"Rachel Meriak, I love you more than you can ever imagine. I would do anything for you, just name it. I want to be with you forever. I want to be there with you while you scream at me in the hospital, having a baby, hoping that its mine. I want to be there when you get a new job, or get a raise. I want to be there, always. I love you and if you let me, I want to be the one standing at the other end of the church. Will you marry me?" John says.
As most romance novels, or stories, the girl is crying, but I'm not. Im smiling the biggest smile possible. I nod fast and John stands up and kisses me. He slides the diamond ring onto my finger and kisses me again.
"I love you." I say to John.
"I love you more." He says smiling ear to ear.
"Not possible." I say grabbing his hand.
"We better get downstairs. We should get going." I said pulling him out of the room. I put my left hand being my back so I can surprise them.
"I don't know why, but my hand hurts." I say.
"Here let me see." Morgan says. I held out my left hand and she grabbed it screaming.
"RACHEL!" She say hugging me.
"Oh my god!!!" They all scream.
"I already knew. Who do you think helped. He doesn't have good taste." Kennedy says and we all laugh.
=============================
We all stand by Eric's grave, and place down flowers. I place down tulips. Orange tulips. The same flower I put on his casket.
"He was a good boy." Rose said. I turned around and saw her. I hugged her. She immediately looked at my hand and smiled.
"Finally." She said laughing.
"What?" I said confused.
"He finally proposed. You two are crazy about each other. Congratulations." She said hugging me then walked off.
My mom came over, along with my dad and they were very excited.
We all left and said no words in the car. Everyone went home and I went up to my room.
Today was an okay day. Being proposed to, but Eric's angelverysary was today... Lets just say this day is crazy, and I'll remember it.., till I go.
