I was texting in a group chat with my group of friends..., John, Robert, Tom, Morgan, Marissa, and Kennedy. We were talking about our school assignments and tests coming up.

"I'm so not ready for Xavier's test tomorrow." Tom said. Tom was never ready. He's a straight C student. I applaud him for trying though!

"And when are you ready?!" John said cockily. Well you couldn't tell but I did.

"Ya ya blah blah bro this, dude that, let's get on the topic of the latest drama!" Morgan said.

"I don't really feel like it..." I said.

"You alright?" John said.

"Does she seem alright to you?! Her brother is in a coma!" Kennedy said.

"Calm." Robert said.

"Down. XD" Marissa said.

"Guys! Im not okay! He still won't wake up is blood level is going down and so I his heart rate. He's missing a leg, he has a concussion, his arm is broken and he's covered in bruises! That doesn't sound okay! Plus I'm so stressed because I can't think of anything to type for my speech!" I said.

"Okay calm babe." John said. Hearing him say babe sends shivers down my spine.

"Sorry..." I replied.

"How about you write it instead. Words seem to flow more when I write." Tom said.

"Okay how about a 7 way Skype call. Get your computer and sit at your desk." Kennedy said.

"Alright.. I'll call you all." I said shutting off my phone. I took out paper, a pencil, and called everyone on Skype.

I was feeling less stressed knowing all my friends could help me at once.

It was 11:13pm on a Tuesday night and we still didn't finish

"Okay how about talking about his personalities. Say all the funny things he said." Robert said.

"Ya, and talk about the times you spent together." Morgan chimed in.

"Alright I think I have it... Here it is." I said reading my speech. I heard a few soft sobs in our call. I myself, was crying.

"Rach..." Robert said. He was know as emotionless but he was actually crying.

"That was amazing... You even made Robert cry." Marissa said.

"Thank you.... You guys helped so much. I love you." I said.

"AND WE LOVE YOU!" They all said in unison.

"Well... I better go to sleep before I cry more." I said sighing.

"Nigh babe." John said. Again, shivers.

"Night." I said hanging up. I stripped off my clothes and threw on my pajamas. I walked to the bathroom and I brushed my teeth slowly. So many things we bouncing in my mind. I know it sounds weird saying that but I haven't been able to focus lately. I washed off my makeup and splashed water at my face. I whipped away the water with a towel and looked up in the mirror, sighing.

"Why.." I said with tears brimming my eyes. I felt the salty tears stream down my face leaving marks. I want him to wake up. I can't even imagine the struggle he'll go through without his leg. I slowly made my way back to my room, looking at Eric's door. I flopped onto my bed and brought the covers over me. I was dreading Friday...

==================

*FRIDAY*

So many people gather in a field filled with tables of food and other things like papers on save driving and donations. In the front there was a donation bin at the entrance. There was a lot of money there for all the families in need. I saw a bin that said my families last name. Im guessing that money went to us. It covered our whole bill..., and that was a lot of money.

Farther down was a small stage with a podium. I soon would have to stand there and give my speech about my brother. I felt like my stomach sunk down.

I saw my friends come toward me, and other people I knew walk around. Other towns came and supported.

"Hey Rach." John said kissing me gently. He tried as much not to "break" me because I was so fragile  lately. I smiled into the kiss because he made me feel happy, and safe.

"Rachel.. Its good to see you." Kennedy said rubbing my back. The rest of the gang showed up and gave me hugs. My parents were talking with the parents of the friends house Eric was going to. The felt really bad because they didn't see the car coming. They apologized so many times and we forgave them because obviously, it wasn't their fault.

The founder of the charity stepped up the the podium and introduced himself and my family. Also members of the organization.

When it was time, my dad went up first. He gave his speech. This is how it went:

"Eric.. He was a good boy. Very young. He had a future ahead of him, and he still does. One little accident won't stop him. When *cough* if he wakes up, I know he will get through the difficulties that are ahead. He will learn to cope with the loss of his leg, and getting a new, fake one. He will go on to be successful and get married and have children. He will live his life to the fullest. Tonight, I came here with my wife, Susan, and my daughter Rachel. They are two strong, beautiful, kind girls that I love. Eric is such a lucky young boy to have them in his life, and so am I. They are always here when someone needs help. They give back to what they get. Our family would not be the same without any one of us. I know Eric will be so happy to see them soon, and give us all big hugs. Thank you." my dad said stepping down, and my mom getting up to the podium.

I heard a few light sops and tissue blows in the distance. My mom got up, and I knew she's been crying from the puffiness under her eyes. She started her speech, and this is what she said:

"My boy is a strong boy. I remember when he was born. He had breathing complications and he got through it. After a quick surgery he was okay, and he made it through. I remember when he was 5, and he broke a vase and cut his toe. To me, I thought if I was him I would be crying, even though it was small. He didn't shed one tear. I know my son will get through this. I love him so much, and so does his father and older sister. He was so funny too. He would always make one of us laugh if we were ever sad.... I remember once when Eric was about 8, and he and Rachel were outside playing. Rachel was riding her skateboard, and it hit a rock and she fell forward and scraped her hand. She started crying and Eric ran over, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and told her a joke and she stopped crying and started laughing." My mom said. A few "Awwwee's" were heard. "He is such a caring boy, and I would do anything for him. I love him so much. My family is my world." my mom added. Everyone laughed and she got down.

It was my turn and my friends and  family whispered "You got it." as I walked up.

Just then I saw my mom get a call. She got off and looked at me with tears brimming her eyes and shaking her head. Right then..., my heart dropped.
