Chapter 3

Next morning Polly woke up early , determined to find the address of her son . She grabbed a gun from her side table draw and quickly placed it in her brown bag .

Charlotte heard her mum and woke up . She didn't want to get told of by Tommy for telling her mum about visiting Micheal . But then again , she didn't really have a choice as Polly suspected she was lying anyway .

Charlotte sighed and rolled out of bed . As she stood up Polly walked in .

"Good you're awake " said Polly in a cheerful voice as she opened Charlotte's curtains.

"I didn't know if I'd be allowed to come in today or not so I - " Charlotte said softly but was cut off .

" Oh you're coming , don't worry about that dear " Polly said as she raised her eyebrows and chuckled .

Charlotte sighed and got dressed promptly . She plaited two little bits of her hair and tied them together before walking downstairs .

" Right . Let's go " said Polly as she wrapped her coat around herself .

Charlotte quickly put on her coat and shoes . She followed her mum out the house and waited for her to lock the door .

"Mum " said Charlotte as they began their walk

Polly was busy lighting the cigarette in her mouth so hummed in response to show she was listening .

"If Tommy doesn't give you the address then just know that you've still got me " Charlotte said quietly .

Polly stopped walking and looked at her .

"Oh darling " Polly said as she cupped her daughter's head in her hands " Micheal won't change anything between us , I promise "

Charlotte nodded and was embraced by Polly before she could say anything .

" I love you more than anything , always remember that " said Polly as she finally let go of the hug .

"I know " whispered Charlotte .

They continued their walk to the den and Charlotte smiled to herself about what Polly had said . Charlotte had spent her whole time desperate to find Micheal that she never really thought about how it would affect her relationship with her mum . As she'd always been an only child she was scared that Michael would takeaway her strong bond with Polly but She was grateful that Polly had reassured her as that was just what she needed to hear .

As they arrived they hung up their coats .

"Wait there  " said Polly as she pointed to her desk .

Charlotte nodded and went to go sit down . Polly walked up to Tommy's offices and paused before going in . She then took a deep breath and walked in .

Polly let the door shut behind her and walked up to Tommy .

"So , me and Charlotte talked last night . " said Polly as she sat down and got out a cigarette .

Tommy sighed and sat down as well .

"You found Micheal " she said as she looked at Tommy with eyes that could kill .

Tommy breathed out smoke slowly and sighed .
