❖ Chapter 23: The Calm Before The Storm 🌸💋

They had agreed to try and behave out in public, to keep their relationship a secret as to not draw out much attention before they left the following morning. They longed for the intimacy that came naturally in a relationship, but they knew they had to restrain themselves. Once they returned from eloping, they wouldn't care if the entire village knew about their relationship. The 'keyword' there had been try. Trying not to draw attention to themselves felt impossible when every fiber of their beings yearned for the other's touch. In this initial week & a half of shared intimacy, their connection had ignited a comforting warmth between them—physical contact was one of their love languages, one that each of them craved fiercely.

Even on their way towards the training grounds for an impromptu morning sparring session, Kakashi found it difficult to maintain a respectable distance. He couldn't resist the temptation to touch her, even if it was in the guise of an innocent pat on the head, a poke to her cheek, or even a playful nudge to test her balance—all of it sent little thrills through him. He knew she was onto him, especially when she swatted his hand away half-heartedly, but the small smile she gave him was all the encouragement he needed. She played along, and that warmed his heart even more. As they walked together, he reveled in how naturally they paired, like two pieces of a puzzle that fit seamlessly.
Upon approaching their favorite Training Ground, they found Yamato standing besides a tree, watching Sai and Naruto sparring with each other.

Kakashi offered a knowing glance at Sakura, resting his finger on his lips in a shushing gesture. "Just play it cool," he whispered, delighting in the way her eyes sparkled with mischief. The couple then stood next to Yamato, Kakashi opting for a sarcastic tone. "Nice of you, to inform all team members of this training session." Sakura remained quiet, to see how this would turn out.
Naruto, always one to leap into the fray with enthusiasm, halted mid-spar against Sai and grinned widely at them. "Captain Yamato said that you two were busy sucking face." Yamato looked betrayed, his eyebrow twitched, his mouth agape as he turned to Kakashi, a mask of betrayal on his face. "Senpai, that is not what I said!"
