Dalle should have known better, but she trusted him to save her. She should have known better than to believe anything he said, but she was desperate—desperate to provide a home for herself and her unborn child.
Everything was proceeding as planned. Nobody could have predicted that the child she was carrying was a bastard. No one would have suspected a thing and by the time anyone did, she had already secured a place for herself and her child in the palace. She thought she had everything under control, but then came the omega prince.
Dalle knew the omega was special; she was a testament to the omega's abilities, but they had underestimated him, and that was her downfall. She thought she had enough time to carry out any plan, but there she was, lying on the filthy floors of the dungeons, having attempted to take the second queen's and Wang Yibo's lives with the jug of tea she offered. Dalle laughed at how pathetic she was to think anything was going to work when the Omega Prince knew what was on her mind from the beginning. He knew she was lying but didn't expose her before everything—he might appear meek and fragile but the omega had a strange way of having fun and Dalle was the scapegoat.
Dalle held her stomach where her baby rested, having no idea what she was giving up to ensure a better life for them.
"Shame.
We could have accomplished so many things together."
Dalle lifted her head in surprise when she heard the voice, only to see Prince Tyler walk into the cell with a crooked smirk. Sluggishly, Dalle made herself up from the floor of the dirty cell and looked at Tyler with a glare that could burn the man right where he stood.
"What's with that look?" Tyler sneered.
"This is entirely your fault." Dalle started, holding back a sob as her voice came out hoarse and raw.
"Perhaps it was. "Listen here, Dalle, you are exactly where I need you to be," he said, his eyes darkening. "Oh, do not get me wrong, we could have worked things out together; we could have won, but you underestimated yourself; you failed to realize that even if the omega prince had not seen through you, you would be caught sooner than you thought because your desperation is written all over you."
Just like that, the tears she had been fighting to hold back came crashing down her face. "You used me."
"I did." Tyler agreed with a laugh. "Zuriel was poisoned; Wang Yibo was attacked; I was the only prince left unscratched; it was obvious Father was going to suspect me, so I had to plant you in the palace to make them believe I was not the one with the poison; if you had not been exposed sooner, I would have also taken the poison; I would have been cleared off the list of suspects, making you the culprit." Tyler sneered as he took a bottle from his trouser pocket and held it up to Dalle, who stared at it fearfully and moved back. Tyler slowly crowed at her. "I no longer have a use for you, Dalle. I guarantee you will not feel anything. You and your bastard child can kiss this world goodbye."
"No." Dalle cried out and attempted to bolt out the door, but Tyler grabbed her hair and yanked her back. Then he opened the cap off the bottle, forcing the liquid down her throat, and with a strong shove, Dalle was on the floor.
Dalle felt like she was being strangled as she held her throat and her insides burned in pain. It was like every blood vessel inside her veins was being cut off. She let out a scream of agony as she clenched her stomach and curled herself on the floor.
"Good luck on your pitiful trip to hell." With a laugh, he threw the empty bottle right at her feet and walked out of the dungeon. A pawn was a pawn; not everyone had a chance for redemption.

"Your Highness, Queen Yang, is currently out of danger." Jiynag entered the room to find the Omega prince standing in the center, fondling a scarf and wearing a dreadful expression. He approached him with a confused expression. "Is there something wrong, Your Highness?"
Xiao Zhan turned to face him. "Do you think I have been a good mate to Wang Yibo in this lifetime?"
Jiyang observed the omega. For the first time, his blanket of coldness was slipping off. Restlessness danced in his eyes, and his fingers brushed against the knitted scarf with unease. "Are you alright?"
He sighed. "I'm alright. I feel like I haven't done enough for my alpha."
Jiyang smiled as he got closer. "You have been here for a few months, and believe me, your highness, you have done something no one has done before. If you believe you have not done enough, you have a lifetime to do so."
Lifetime? That was not something Xiao Zhan had. He didn't have much time and he hated it. "I don't have a lifetime, Jiyang. What I have is now, and I need to get things right before they come for me." He extended his scarf to Jiyang. "I made this just for you. In this human body, there isn't much I can do. I had already disregarded nature's laws and meddled with the wheels of fate. Jiyang, this will be my final act of kindness to you. With Haoxuan, I want you to be content. This scarf is like a thread that will tie your fates together for all eternity."
Suddenly, Jiyang felt tears sting in his eyes. "What are you saying, your highness?"
With a slight smile, he thrust the scarf into Jiyang's hands. "From now on, you don't have to fear you can't give Haoxuan what he wants. It is you that he desires. You will have as many pups as you desire, both in this lifetime and the many that follow. As long as I am the god of fate, nothing will come between you."
Jiyang still did not understand, but tears streamed down his cheeks, and he had no idea when he threw his arms around the omega in a hug. "Why are you saying all of this?!" He cried.
Xiao Zhan stared at the space in front of him. The aura of divine presence was suffocating in the air. They were already here. "Go." He patted Jiyang on the back. "Tell Wang Yibo that I managed to keep him alive in this lifetime; I succeeded, but this is where our journey ends."
