The third prince of Dawnton was undergoing a midlife crisis. His crisis had escalated significantly since Dalle had settled in as his concubine at the palace and he felt horrible about everything he did.

He attempted to decipher the document's contents on the table, but the words appeared to be jumbled together, reflecting the state of his mind. He sighed, rested his back on his seat, and looked at his surroundings. The palace study had become his hiding place since his midlife crisis began. He tried to keep his mind occupied as much as possible. Hiding wouldn't solve his problems, but he couldn't help it, especially when everyone believed he was lying.

Wang Yibo groaned and threw his hand back, hiding his face behind his palms, but then he smelled it: the sweet scent of his omega, and his inner beast awoke and expected. He removed his hand from his face and found Xiao Zhan standing in front of him, with beautiful brown eyes staring at him as if he had everything figured out.

Sometimes Wang Yibo wished he could be as stern and nonchalant as the Omega prince. He straightened up. "What brings you here?"

"Hiding doesn't solve problems. You, of all people, should know that, my lord."

Wang Yibo wasn't sure if he was that translucent or if the omega knew him inside out. "I'm not hiding!" He repudiated. "I have been assigned these piles of work and I need to get them done."

Xiao Zhan drew nearer, gazing intently into his eyes. He lowered his body to Wang Yibo's level, resting his hands on the table. "Your openness is a bigger clue than my incapacity to read your thoughts. You should not have to worry about things like this. No one knows the truth better than you do or perhaps you believe you have made a mistake and Dalle is indeed carrying your child."

Wang Yibo's gaze expanded. "Obviously not! Despite my negligence, I made a promise that only my mate would bear my child. Dalle is nothing more than a lying bitch," he exclaimed, feeling like a child defending himself in front of his mother. "You can read minds, do you not? I believe you can tell Dalle is lying."

"What if I claim she isn't?" Xiao Zhan leaned back and adjusted his posture. "I think you will make an excellent father, and our first child will have an older sibling."

"You jest." Wang Yibo expressed disbelief.

Xiao Zhan's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I do not!"

Wang Yibo stood up abruptly and moved around the table to Xiao Zhan's side. He grabbed his wrist and pinned him to the table. "I dislike it when you speak casually about our child. No one other than you will carry my child."

Xiao Zhan smiled slightly before reaching out and trailing his finger along Wang Yibo's nose. "If we ever have a child, I want them to look exactly like you."
