Your Selection

Chapter Four

After you turned on the light switch you are able to see the face of your attacker. He is very pale and has an almost unnaturally bright silver hair, with that you realise that your attacker is James Carstairs.

"You are James aren't you, your one of the selected." You say, "God this is embarrassing. You shouldn't be here."

"Please call me Jem," He replied, "I am sorry for intruding, your majesty. I just wanted to make sure you are okay I saw you on the ground and then limping away. I thought you were hurt, and clearly I was right." He says pointing at the dried up blood.

"I'm fine, I just need rest could you please leave."

"I'm sorry you are right it is late, I shouldn't have intruded. But please let me at least clean your wound." He says as he starts walking towards you. "After all you owe me one after trying to stab me to death with a pen."

"Well you shouldn't have come into my room in the middle of the night!" You say, "How did you even get past the guard?"

"He is an old friend of mine." Jem Says with a smile as he gets out a bottle of water and pours it onto your wound, making the blood disappear from your skin. It stings a little but you restrain yourself from showing any pain.

"Great now my floors wet." You say."How do you know the guard?"

"He helped me out with a problem I had a while back, I will tell you about it another day."

"Hey," You say remembering the nights events more clearly, "When I was running away last night I heard someone insult me do you know who that was?"

"It was this boy called Draco, I think, blonde haired boy," He says finishing putting a Band-Aid on the cut, "All done. You will be good as new in no time, thank you for letting me do that."

"Thank you for helping me." You say, "That boy, Draco I'm not sure but I think he was cut off while he was insulting me, what happened?"

"Um..yeah that was the other reason I came in here..." Jem says, "He was hit by my friend Will and because its against the rules of the selection to harm another person they want to kick him out.

"But he was only trying to protect me!" You say, "Isn't the point of this is for me to try to find love and yet they are thinking of kicking out the man who was protecting me instead of the man who insulted me!"

"I know right! That's what I said and you know what they said to me?" He said, "They said that if you think that way to maybe I should leave to just for defending him."

"I'm sorry that this happened, who said this?"

"Your parents advisors," Jem said, "But luckily the king and queen disagreed and suggested that you decide if he stays or goes. That's why I am here asking you if you would consider giving him another chance."

"Of course I won't kick him out." You say, "He was just trying to help me."

"Thank you so much your majesty!" Jem says. "Will can be a handful sometimes but he's a good guy thanks for giving him a chance."

"Right...um its late..and I need to get to sleep, thank you for helping me out but could you please, if you would."

"Of course, again i'm sorry for intruding."

"And I for stabbing you with a pen." You say with a smile "Goodnight Jem."

"Goodnight your majesty." He leaves with a smile and you shut a door.

Jem seems really nice helping you like that and risking himself to get kicked out just so his friend could stay. Maybe they are more than friends. Maybe they are dating. No, no of course not because why would they be here if they were dating.

You get up into bed.  Your waist is still painful but not as bad as earlier. You lay down and try to get a few hours sleep before you have to get up again, but you cant help but thinking about Draco. Why would he say something like that. He wants to marry you doesn't he. Maybe your image throughout the lands are just better than you really are. You need to get rid of people though and this is a perfect reason to throw him out of the palace, he was just so rude. You give up thinking about it and decide that you will decide in the morning wherever you kick him out or give him a chance.

Hey! YEs I am ALIVIE! hopeful this story WILL continue but im not sure yet because I may be busy next month and if I am I feel like the same thing that happened last year will happen again this year. I don't expect this chapter to get any votes or comments since its been nearly a year since ive posted and ive lost my editor so it probably will have a lot of mistakes. but anyway thanks for reading if you did and ive already wrote the next chapter so it will be up soon.
