Chapter 6 - Lovestruck Magistrate

It has been a month since then. Secluded in her office, the Magistrate had been working as usual. Signing papers, preparing for future incidents, and a lot more tasks she needed to do. It was like any other normal day. However, she was somewhat feeling down and tired. 

Jinhsi is the Magistrate of Jinzhou, therefore, being well-disciplined was a given trait for her. It was unlikely for her to seek some entertainment, instead of working for the sake of Jinzhou. However, it had been several days since Rover went out on a journey. Perhaps it was the reason Jinhsi had been acting weird?

"Have I become too clingy?" Jinhsi asked herself, following up with a sigh.

Lately, the events involving around Jinhsi also involved Rover. Every time they were faced with conflicts, it was always them who were in the center of the show. It was as if fate always kept them meeting each other. It was not a coincidence anymore.

It was fate that loved to pair the Magistrate and the Hero of Jinzhou.

"Was it all really fate and not coincidence?" Jinhsi asked herself before putting her head on her palm.

"I suppose so, Madam Magistrate."

"S-Sanhua?! Since when...?!" Sanhua's unexpected appearance shook Jinhsi and jumped out of her chair.

Jinhsi had been overthinking things that she never noticed her assistant in front of her. Her face turned red as she recalled her thoughts about her relationship with Rover.

"Speaking of which, it appears that Rover would come back anytime soon."

All of a sudden, Jinhsi's eyes lit up and smiled brightly, as if she had been waiting for this moment forever. "Then, we should go and greet Rover!"

"It was a joke, Madam Magistrate," Sanhua stated with a poker face.

"..."

There was a brief moment of silence. Sanhua called out her madam's name, yet she didn't respond. Her hands on the desk clenched and she somehow emitted a dangerous aura. The atmosphere has changed. It was heavy.

"Sanhua, which person dared you to do this...?" Jinhsi inquired, not even eyeing Sanhua.

Sanhua was not the type to joke around and fool others. Thus, she was more of an ice queen. It was not like her to do something that meaningless. Jinhsi knew Sanhua better than anyone, considering the time they spent together. She knew that Sanhua would never tell a joke to her.

Still, it did not change the fact that Jinhsi was upset.

"I-I apologize, Madam Magistrate. I figured that you might be down ever since Rover left on a journey, so I merely wanted to lighten the mood. I had never thought that it would only get worse," Sanhua apologized as she bowed.

".... Just do not to that to me again." Jinhsi said as she breathed a sigh of relief.

Rover

Awakened with an unknown past, Rover is an who Arbiter embarks on a journey to uncover the truth to regain their lost memories. As secrets are unveiled, they establish deeper connections with the world.

The sun hid behind the dark clouds, leaving no light to show the world's beauty. It appeared that it would rain sooner or later. In the middle of grasslands stood Rover, who had been walking around to search for a specific place.

While doing so, he stumbled upon a group of Tacet Discords, who were roaming around the plains. Suddenly, Rover grinned deviously as he slowly approached the group.

"Perfect timing. I've been needing more echoes for my Havoc build." Rover menacingly said as he adjusted the black gloves he wore in his hand.

Rover eyed the humanoid creature holding a tambourine with a bizarre look as a sword appears in his hand magically. However, the rest of the Tacet Discords blocked his sight and came charging towards Rover.

"Ho? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're actually coming closer?" Rover said, pointing his sword towards the creatures. "The show begins."

Rover charged ahead and brought his sword down towards one TD. The other one behind it suddenly shot a projectile, which Rover easily avoided while he ran towards the creature.

"I sense your weakness."

The Tacet Discord's body split in half and slowly disintegrated, while the rest of them charged towards Rover. However, he had been waiting for this very exact moment. 

"Down with the curtain." Rover uttered, snapping his fingers.

Hence, an explosion occurred, leaving no trace of enemies, except for one. 

The seemingly leader of the group, holding a tambourine, saw the whole thing and took a step back. Rover was in a whole another level, whom the leader can't fight against. However, it took an act of desperation and attacked nonetheless.

Before it could, however, Rover had already swung his sword at the speed of light, splitting the leader in a countless pieces. 

After it disintegrated, it left a glowing silhouette of its body, which Rover absorbed using the gourd attached to his back.

"Well then. Time to take a break." Rover said as he stretched his arms and continued wandering once again.

Tacet Discord

These creatures mimic the abilities, shapes, and behaviors of others and are influenced by the types of frequency they consume.

"Uh, is there something wrong with Madam Magistrate?" The guard asked Sanhua, who was done with her works.

"Come to think of it, lady Magistrate had been muttering the same words over and over again," said the other guard.

Some days had passed and after Sanhua finished assisting the Magistrate with her work, she'd decide to go outside and breathe some clean air. However, the guards overheard and asked Sanhua what was going on with their Magistrate.

"Oh, Madam Magistrate is merely down. She had not seen Rover for almost a month." Sanhua stated.

The guards were shocked and proud at the same time. "Miss Magistrate is finally growing up. I'm happy for her."

"She was just a kid back then. But now she's matured into a woman and is even interested in someone."

The guards engaged a conversation about their Magistrate finally growing up. Jinhsi, on the other hand, overheard the two guards from her office.

"They sure are having fun." Jinhsi said, aware that her face is red.

Jinhsi ignored the two yapping about their Magistrate and continued her work after a sigh.

Her mind had been going in a circle ever since she spent time with Rover. However, the guards' conversation cleared her mind.

"Does it mean... That I like Rover...?" Jinhsi muttered, touching her reddened cheeks with her palm as she recalled her moments with him.
