F1 Oneshots

🦁 Speeches Save Lives | MV33

Since some people wanted to hear more of the speeches I've decided to write them out here for you to read. This is sort of a part 2 to ' 🦁 Weddings Save Lives | MV33 ' but also not really at the same time.

Toto.

"Well," he began as he stood up from his seat next to his daughter looking down at at her and Max. "It's no secret that I wasn't entirely happy when I found out about Max and Y/n, but I'll be honest he's lovely and I'm glad he's part of my family." Max smiled at the words he had just heard from his father in-law. "And now that I've met him, got to know him, I can't think of anyone better to be with Y/n. But I don't really need to worry too much about my daughter, because she's so strong. And she's shown me that multiple times," his voice broke as he looked down at the words on his phone screen. Everyone seated at the tables around him passed shouts of encouragement 'go on Toto' along with some claps. "And I know that, had she been sat here with us today," his voice broke again and he moved to face his daughter rather than the audience cheering him. Y/n took the napkin from next to her and dabbed her eyes. "Your mother would have been so proud of everything you've achieved. You've given her a beautiful granddaughter," he gestured his hands to the little girl sat on Susie's lap as she gazed around the room. "And you've given her a daughter to be very proud of." Y/n sniffed and dabbed her eyes at the mention of her mother.

Guaranteed she was only four when it happened but when she came home from school and Toto had to explain to her that 'mama wasn't coming home from work tonight, because she had an important meeting tomorrow.' Even as a little girl though she knew something was wrong from the wobble in her dads voice as he spoke and the stains from tears on his cheeks.

"So I'd like to raise a toast the new Mr and Mrs Verstappen." Toto spoke lifting the glass in his hand. The words felt weird to say, but also relieving that she'd found the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. "And to Melanie." A tear couldn't help but fall from Y/n's eyes at the mention of her mother once more but still, she raised her glass along with everyone else in the room before taking a sip.

Danny.
(I changed it because I don't really like the original one)

Danny straightened out his suit jacket as he walked to the front with his microphone in his hand.

"Well I'd like to start by saying how stunning you look tonight Y/n. And Max..." Danny paused and looked over at his friend who laughed. He then continued with his speech causing people to laugh at the subtle dig at Max. "I knew that from the moment Max laid his eyes on Y/n that I wasn't going to hear the end of it. I don't think I could go one time seeing him without him telling me about her 'Y/n said this' or 'Y/n went to such a place too' so when he suddenly stopped talking about her I knew something had happened. So when I asked what happened and he said 'they'd grown apart' I had to believe him because it's the only logical explanation." Danny turned to Max and hummed judgementally before saying the next part.

"However, that wasn't the truth was it Max?" He shook his head before Danny continued. "And I think I knew it wasn't the truth when a few months later he was walking around in his fireproofs wayyy before the race, so obviously I knew something was up. Just to mess with him I asked what the mark there was, even though I couldn't see a mark." Danny pointed to his neck to show where he was referring to. "And almost immediately! He started readjusting his fireproofs, so I pulled them off his neck and it wasn't pretty. He said it was a drunk dare, I said it was otherwise. He had a temporary tattoo that said 'Y/n's property.'" Everyone, including Y/n laughed but Max buried his head in hands as his cheeks flushed a scarlet red. "But I'll be honest I don't really have any other stories about Max to embarrass him, because it's usually me who's the embarrassing one."

Max. (I know he didn't originally do one but I've decided now that he is going to)

"Well firstly me and my wife." Everyone cheered at the statement and Max had to wait a second for everyone to call down before continuing. "Me and my wife, would like to thank you all for being here with us today. Now I wasn't told I was doing a speech until a few nights ago, when Y/n turned to me asked if I'd done one and to not embarrass her in it." He sniggered before looking down at his phone and reading the very small speech off it. "So I don't have much but I hope you like it. Y/n," he turned to her "ever since I met you've been my rock that I can always count on when I need you. So I suppose now I can be your rock and I will be, probably for about a month, before it's back to how it used to be." Y/n couldn't help but smile as he spoke, she was a little peeved that he'd only conjured this up the other night but that feeling didn't last long. "But I wouldn't change any of this for anything. The ups and downs with your dad and Susie always having my back, Lotte being born and meeting you. You're the best woman I know: strong, independent and absolutely stunning. And I'm so glad I get to spend the rest of my life with you." The audience applauded him as he sat down and Y/n leant her head onto his shoulder instead of giving him a hug because it'd be awkward seeing as they're seated next to one other. Short and sweet, Y/n thought to herself.

Hannah. (I know bridesmaids don't usually do speeches but I've decided she's doing one.)

Hannah took a deep breath as she stood up at her seat on the table next to her husband Al.

"I think me and Danny were definitely in the same situation when Y/n and Max met." Hannah said before imitating her best friend. "'Max told me this.' Or 'Max has just text me, one second.' But I knew there was something different about him, Y/n had never talked about a guy like that before. I can pinpoint the exact day when I knew she was head over heels for him. Y/n and I are like sisters and I'm sure Toto can vouch for that, if I wasn't at her house she was at mine." Toto nodded at Hannah's statement before she continued. "So when we were out shopping and we were looking at some dresses for a wedding. Y/n was looking too but not without sending Max a photo of each one and asking him which one he preferred, even though the reason we'd gone with one another was so that we could help each other." Y/n sniggered and smiled at the embarrassing story. "I could tell you more stories about Y/n and Max but I'm sure you all know them already. So I'd like to make a toast to Max and Y/n, and wish them a happy marriage." Hannah raised her glass and everyone followed her before echoing her words.

"To Max and Y/n."
