"You're sure about this?"

"If Sirius black can defeat the dementors we need to learn how to as well." Harry said not looking at Y/n.

Y/n had grown very fond of Harry in his absence. He's even ignored her in practice. As they say, absence only makes the heart grow fonder. She only wondered why...maybe he had found out Sirius Black was her father?

"Very well-" Professor Lupin said interrupting Y/n's thoughts, "I'm going to teach you the Patronus Charm, ever heard of it?" Y/n nodded yes, but Harry shook his head no.

"A Patronus is a kind of positive force. For the wizard who can conjure one, it works something like a shield. The dementor feeds on it instead of him. But for this to work you need to think of a happy memory. Not just any happy memory, one very powerful." Harry and Y/n thought for a minute, then they nodded their heads. "Got it? Good, now let it fill you up. Get lost in it. Then speak the incantation: 'Expecto Patronum'."

"Expecto Patronum" Harry and Y/n muttered to themselves. Though she had heard of the charm she never figured she would have to cast it.

"Right then, shall we?" Y/n watched Harry grip his wand as she did too.

"Expecto Patronum. Expecto... Expect...." Everything suddenly went black. Y/n woke up to Harry staring at her, eating a chocolate frog. Professor Lupin fished one out of his pocket and handed one to her as well.

"That's one nasty dementor." She states, Harry nodded in agreement. Looked like he wasn't ignoring her anymore.

"Actually it was a boggart."

"But my boggart isn't a dementor?"
Y/n said.

"As long as it can see Harry clearly, that's what it will become. The real thing would actually be much worse. Just out of interest what did you think of Y/n?"

"Playing with a black dog when I was younger, it's one of my happiest memories." Y/n said sheepishly.

"And you, Harry?"

"I thought of the first time I rode a broom..." Harry said.

"That's not nearly good enough, let's try again, think of a happier memory."

"I have...one. It's not necessarily happy, but it's the happiest I ever felt." Harry said, thinking of the first time he went to the hospital wing with Y/n in first year, after fighting Quirrel/Voldemort. Little did Harry know Y/n was thinking of the same memory.

"Is it strong?" Lupin questioned.

"Yes..."

"Then let's try it."

"Expecto Patronum!" Y/n and Harry say in sync.

Suddenly a silver whisp spews out of their wands.
Suddenly the dementor goes back in its case. Their arms drop, slack.
Lupin stares at them in awe and mutters something under his breath.

"Well done!" He exclaims.

"Thank you." Y/n says.

"You definitely would've given your fathers a run for their money. And believe me, that's saying something."

Y/n stared at him in admiration, he knew her father. HE knew HER father! Then she realized. He must've been the one to let him in the castle. She was definitely going to talk to him about it later.

"I think we've had enough, for today." Harry says, grabbing Y/n's hand for reassurance, bringing her back to reality. He quickly let go after he noticed that she noticed.

"Alright then," Lupin started, "head off to your common rooms and enjoy the rest of the night." He finishes staring at the window, looking at the moon.

^time skip^
-the common room is empty, just Harry and Y/n-

"Harry, I'm sorry for whatever happened at Hogsmeade but there's something I have to tell you..."

"It's okay, you don't have to tell me, I feel like I already know."

"You might, but you would be a lot more mad at me if you knew what I'm about to say to you."

"Y/n, I could never and I mean NEVER be mad at you..."

"Okay, well..." she took a deep breath in. "Sirius Black... is my- um- he is- well-"

"Oh, come on Y/n, just spit it out, what is he a distant cousin or something?"

"He's my father!" She spits out.

"Oh." Harry said.

"That's it? 'Oh'? You're angry aren't you? It's okay you have the right to be...he did aid in- um-"

"Killing my parents, his best friends."

"Yeah...and my mom."

"But your mom, she's alive isn't she?"

"I'm adopted, Harry, remember?"

"Oh, right."

They sat in silence.

"I'm sorry I said I wanted to kill your dad." Harry said.

"No, it's quite alright, I want to kill him too." She paused. Her feelings were bubbling up, she wasn't sure how long she could hold it until she started to- there it was. A tear leaked from her eye. She was starting to cry.

Harry stared at her, she had seen her cry of laughter, of pain, but never of sadness.

"I'm really sorry." She said, sincerely.

"I don't know why he-" she was cut off. Harry had pulled her into a bone crushing hug.

"It's okay, Y/n. It's not your fault, you're nothing like him!" Harry reassured her.

"Thank you." She said while still crying. Harry released her and pulled her to lay on his side he started playing with her hair giving her words of affirmation.

Soon the crying stopped, she had fell asleep. She had fallen asleep on him. Y/n L/n had fallen asleep on Harry Potter.

'She just fell asleep on me?' Harry thought to himself. He blushed at the sight. Soon he started dozing off himself.

The awoke. They awoke to a deafening yell coming from the boys dormitory.

Boys rushed downstairs and Y/n pushed herself off Harry, standing up.

"He was here! Sirius Black!" Y/n winced at the name.

Professor McGonagall strides in the room, now containing everyone from Gryffindoor house.

" That is preposterous, Weasley, how could serious black possibly have gotten through the portrait hole?

" I don't know how he got in! I was a bit busy, dodging his knife! And this bloody cat ate my rat!" Ron says.

"That's a lie!" Hermione shouts.

"Silence!" McGonagall turns to Sir Cadogan, who sensing the attention, perks up instantly.

" Sir Cadogan, is it possible that you let a mysterious man enter Gryffindor tower tonight?"

" certainly good lady! He had the password. had the whole weeks in fact, on a little piece of paper."

"Which abysmally foolish person wrote down the passwords, and then proceeded to lose them" McGonagall cries

Everyone's eyes look around, Neville sheepishly raises his hand

"Is it always going to be you Longbottom?"

"I'm afraid so ma'am..."

"While we know Sirius Black is gone tonight. I think you can safely assume he will, at some future time, attempt to return. Let me be clear. You're not to move about the castle alone. You are not allowed to write down the password understood?!" McGonagall scolded clearly directing the last part at Neville, who looks down while everyone else nods. "Very well then go to bed."
