lando's pov

-

After an extremely disappointing race in Belgium, I wanted nothing more than to leave the track. Having finished with media, I was leaving in somewhat of a rush.

"Lando!"

Carlos' voice came from behind me as I neared the parking area. Stopping and turning towards him, I watched as he approached with a serious expression on his face.

"We need to talk."

"About?" I wasn't in the mood for talking so my tone came off as off-putting.

"Giana."

At the sound of her name, my heart pick up the pace and my mouth suddenly went dry.

Yesterday, I saw her for the first time since she left home. Seeing her was literally breathtaking and not just because she's absolutely gorgeous. My breath literally left my lungs and I froze on the spot. It was like I forgot how to act. Maybe it was because I had just come to the realization of my feelings for her or maybe because it was the first time I saw her in weeks.

Regardless, I just blanked completely.

What threw me off the most was the look in her eyes. Her usual bubbly demeanor was dulled down. A twinge of guilt hit my chest because I knew it was my fault.

"What about her?" I asked when I eventually managed to respond.

He looked around, making sure no one could overhear us. It was really late and we were in a somewhat secluded area. There was no one in sight.

"You know I never like to get between yours and Giana's business, but did you seriously bring your girlfriend to work yesterday?"

By girlfriend, I'm sure he was referring to one of the worst choices I had ever made: Crystal. "If you're talking about my ex-girlfriend, then no. I haven't seen her since I kicked her out of the apartment for breaking in." I responded casually, emphasizing the ex part.

Carlos' eyes visibly widened as he looked at me surprised. "First of all, what do you mean ex-girlfriend? And second, what do you mean she broke in?"

"We've been over for way more than a month and yeah, she broke into the apartment a couple of weeks ago."

"She broke into the apartment?!" Carlos asked again.

"Why do you keep repeating everything I'm saying as a question?" I looked at him confused as to why he was reacting that way.

"Cabron, eres un idiota!" He ran a hand through his hair in disbelief.

"I know enough Spanish to understand that."

"I should've asked you for what was going on ages ago." Carlos mumbled more to himself.

"I am so confused right now." I replied, my brows furrowing.

"Giana has the completely wrong story about what happened with that other girl."

"Well I figured there was some misunderstanding but I didn't know to what extent" I replied.

"She thinks you guys are still dating. That girl you were with yesterday, she thought that was Crystal."

Immediately, I shook my head in response. "No, that was Ria."

"Ria?" He asked.

"Ria, as in Maria. One of my closest friends. She's been a great support during these past weeks and came to this race before flying back to
her home. Did Gi not recognize her?"

Carlos nodded. "No, she assumed something else since she doesn't know that you had broken up with that other girl." He paused, as if trying to figure something out. "I need the entire story Lando, everything has been really confusing."

That's when I went on and explained everything to him. Starting from how I broke up with Crystal and finishing with how she broken into the apartment.

"Giana has no idea what the truth is." Carlos replied once he finished listening to me. "She thinks that you knew about the leaked audio the entire time and that you were bringing that girl into your home."

"Crystal is fucking crazy. That last thing I would ever do is break Giana's trust like that."

"Lando, why don't you tell her the truth?" Carlos asked me incredulously.

"She wants and needs space from me. If I need to stay away for her to get better, I'm going to do that. I don't want a repeat of last time. Not again." We both knew what exactly I was referring to.

"Isn't it better that you give her the truth?"

"Yes, and I will gladly tell her anything she wants to know. But I'm letting her have the choice of when and where I speak to her."

Carlos says nothing as he looks at me, a small frown on his face. Although he's being quiet, the look in his eyes tells me he's planning something. Whether it's good or bad, I have no idea.

Lando was stressing me out.

As I walked away from him, everything he had told me processed through my head. So much could have been avoided if he tried to reach out to her. There was so much that Giana had to find out about and from what it looked like, he wouldn't be telling her any time soon. On the other hand, she didn't seem to be in a rush to speak to him either.

But she had to know everything. They weren't speaking due to a lack of communication. Something had to be done.

Taking out my phone, I called the one person I knew would help me fix everything.

It was time for Charles and I to be what Giana liked to call us: chismosos.
