The words "We're back home!" echoed throughout the house. The family lifted their heads from their phones. Chai drank a full glass of water before walking toward the door. She was sweating a little, maybe because of how hot it was inside, or maybe it was just her.

Yuu and {Y/n} go up from the table and follow Chai to the door. The three of them were at the door and saw the adults putting up their jackets. The mother walked over to {Y/n} when she noticed her, she grabbed her arms close and wrapped hers around into a tight hug.

"I've missed you, my dear, {Y/n}!"

Chai and Yuu hug their dad while {Y/n}'s mom still hugs her daughter tight, not wanting to let go. Chai had to tap her shoulder to grab her attention away.

Alice let go of her daughter and turned to her step-children, "Oh, sorry you two. Come here and hug me." She grabbed both of them for a big tight group hug.

{Y/n} walked over to her stepdad hugging him. "I missed you kiddo."

"I could say the same thing," {Y/n} says releasing from the hug.

"What do you mean?" Mark asked, crossing his arms and lifting an eyebrow at her.

"Because you left me to read earlier."

His face flattened as he stared at her expecting it to be something more.

"I'm joking I miss you too." She playfully smiled and gave him another and better hug which he gave back.

The family walked into the dining room seeing Grandma Mei was still reading her book. She looked up from her book when she heard people walk closer to her. She got up from her chair and walked over to her son. Grandma Mei grabbed his cheeks and looked at his face.

"Geez, you've gotten older by the looks of it," She spoke, examining all the wrinkles on his face.

"And you still have a bright spirit don't you, Mom?"

Grandma Mei let go of her son and cleared her throat, "I'm only joking with you." She walks over to Alice and gives her a hug, "It's been a while dear."

She let go of the hug and sat down by her husband at the table, "It feels like it has been a year since we last saw you all at once."

Chai walks into the kitchen to grab them a glass of water. She sets them down and takes a seat in front of them.

"If you guys would have arrived tomorrow it would have been a full year since you've been gone," Chai added looking at the calendar on her phone.

Alice and Mark look at each other then the calendar on the fridge then back at the kids. Alice interlocks fingers with her husband. "We are so sorry, but business has been- well it's been busy these years."

"Yeah," Mark added, "We have to leave in a week as well. So we won't be able to stay for long and be able to have fun as a family like last time."

Yuu's head fell down but then backed up when an idea popped up in his head. "Hey! Dad, I want to show you something. I have been working on something in the shed!" He and his dad walked out of the house and to the shed.
