𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭

NAYELI ROCKED BABY KAI gently in the rocking chair as she fed him his bottle. Emmett, in the meantime, was preparing a warm bath for Nayeli, hoping to give her a moment of relaxation once Kai was tucked into bed. She carefully laid Kai down in his crib and walked quietly into their shared room. Emmett had already set out her pajamas on the bed.

"I'll take that," Emmett said softly, taking the baby monitor from her hands and leading her to the bathroom.

"A spa night for my lovely fiancée after bringing our baby into the world," he added with a grin, helping her into the tub and gently washing her hair. "You okay?"

"Mhm, just tired," she replied, closing her eyes as the warmth from the water soothed her.

"You did great yesterday," Emmett praised, pressing soft kisses to her shoulder.

Nayeli let him carefully brush and braid her hair, so it wouldn't tangle overnight. Emmett, knowing her skincare routine by heart after watching her do it countless times, applied each product with the utmost care. He turned on the baby monitor to keep an eye on Kai while Nayeli relaxed. She snuggled into his side, her hand resting on his chest as she drifted to sleep, knowing that Emmett would be there to take care of Kai during the night.

The next morning, while changing Kai's diaper, Nayeli heard Emmett's voice calling from the other room.

"Babe, Carlisle called a meeting. He said pack everything we'll need because we won't be coming back to our home any time soon. The wolves know where we are now."

Nayeli nodded in acknowledgment, not being able to respond verbally as she focused on getting Kai cleaned up.

"I'll start gathering things," Emmett said, starting to pack their essentials.

"Don't forget food," Nayeli added, picking Kai up and watching him stretch. "I don't drink blood."
