"because I am pregnant with his child"
The moment the words left her mouth, Ayat's eyes widened, and she trembled as she took a few steps back in shock. Her mind went blank. "She is lying," her thoughts protested. Kinza moved closer, a smug smirk plastered on her face.
"Y-you a-are l-lying!" Ayat let out taking some more steps back as running from something while kinza's smirk grow wide
"This much trust on a man hann?......You are forgetting ayat, moreover he also have desires when his wife will not complete his desires then obviously he will fulfill it by another wo-" she didn't get to complete her sentence when ayat slapped her very hard that her face got turned towards left and kinza's eyes widen she kept her hand on her cheek which was paining ,for a moment her eyes got blank because, the slap was rigid and her cheek got whole red
"You b*tch" she was about to slap her when ayat abruptly rushed from their and kinza's hand hung on the air she takes her hand back with angry look but then looked at her disappearing figure
"Maybe my work is done," she said, smirking at her fading figure, while Ayat's fingers were clearly imprinted on her cheek.
Ayat entered the house, her gaze blank as she climbed the stairs abruptly. Her ankle twitched, but she didn't care as she ascended, her mind swirling with thoughts.
"She was lying; she's a liar. Ayat, you should trust Ashar. He is your husband. Just because someone said something ridiculous, you can't... you just can't doubt him," she mumbled to herself while stepping into her room, her mind still hazy and her lips moving without much thought. She sat on the bed, staring into space, when her phone rang, breaking her train of thought. She glanced at the caller ID: it was Sabeeha. Hurriedly, she picked up the phone.
"As-salamualaikum, Sabeeha aapa!" she said desperately.
"Walaikum as-salam. Actually, Ayat, I don't have much time, and I called you to tell you something important!" Sabeeha's voice was rushed.
"What is it?" Ayat asked, raising her eyebrows in curiosity.
"I told you I had heard Ashar's name somewhere before your marriage," Sabeeha continued, prompting Ayat to remember and hum in acknowledgment. "Well, now I've found out where I heard it from, and the shocking thing is... they are not Sayyed, Ayat!" Her words made Ayat's brows twitch and her heart race.
"...they are from another caste, and here is a Xerox of those files in front of me. They have converted, and I don't know the rest, but I am sending you the picture. Read that," she said, waiting for Ayat to respond, seeking some assurance. When she heard nothing, she continued.
"...and listen carefully, caste doesn't matter in Islam, but lying does. You should talk to them about why they lied to your family and to the whole world , first Calm down and think about this" Sabeeha said to her and then continued "and also, I will be out of the city soon. My brother's health isn't great, so I'm going to Mumbai. Take care... and Allah Hafiz."
As Ayat placed the phone on the bedside table, her mind was racing with questions. Why had they lied? Why did they convert? If they had converted, why hadn't they told her parents before the marriage? Why were they hiding this from her? So many questions were swirling in her thoughts.
Soon, she received a notification on her phone. Grabbing it, she saw a document that left her in shock. It was true!
Unlike her parents, she didn't care much about caste, but lying was what truly mattered to her. "I have to confront Ashar," she mumbled to herself.
Then she remembered Kinza's words, "Why did she even say that?" she thought in despair. She trusted Ashar, but her mind couldn't shake off these troubling thoughts.
