Chapter 12

After having her fill, Pudding used her Memo-Memo fruit powers to alter Reiju's memories to forget all the shit she just spewed. She sent Reiju to the infirmary and went back to her room

Reiju woke up with a splitting head ache. When she tried to sit up she winced in pain and looked down at her bandaged thigh

"You're finally awake"

Reiju turned finally registering Sanji's presence sitting close but not too close to the bed

"Sanji"

"Do you remember what happened to you?"

Reiju furrowed her brow as she tried to remember

"I remember....walking down a hall then I was shot by a soldier"

"Hm just like I thought" Reiju rose a brow "Your memory was altered by Pudding. She shot you. Turns out it was all a scam. At the wedding, their planning on killing us all"

"How did you know?"

"I.....overheard it"

Reiju noticed the slightly tremble of her brother's form

"Do you believe me?"

Reiju sighed

"You're not one who would lie about something like this. Besides I already was a bit doubtful of Pudding"

There was a moment of silence. Reiju took in all the information as she thought quietly

"Go"

Sanji rose his head to look at her

"What?"

"Go, you have to leave, save yourself" Reiju ordered

"Even if I wanted to I can't, the cuffs-"

"Are fake. I switched them. Those won't explode"

"But what about Zeff?"

"Big Mom is after our technology, she wouldn't care about some chef in the East Blue. And if it is as you said, Germa would be eliminated therefore there would be no one to carry out the threat" Reiju said matter of factly

"But-"

"But what? What else is there?" Reiju questioned

"But why do you have to die?"

Sanji couldn't let her die. Yeah when his brothers beat him up she doesn't get involved but she still helps bandage him up after. She was the only family member besides his mom who actually cared. She was the reason he escaped from that hell hole all those years ago. He can't leave her

"You're really kind Sanji but my hands are tainted red with blood. I've killed numerous people. I deserve this. Germa 66 is a kingdom of assassins, the world would be better without us"

"But-"

"Sanji!! Please you have to live for our mother's sake"

Sanji froze at her words, mouth agape. What does she mean by that? He looked curiously at her. Reiju sighed as she turned to properly look at Sanji

"Before you boys were born our mother and father had a huge fight. Our father wanted our mother to have an operation so that you would have genetic modifications but this would have caused you to lose your humanity. Our mother was against this saying she didn't want her children to become heartless monsters but father forced her. She took a toxin to counteract the effect. This weakened her body"

Sanji's brows furrowed together

"Unfortunately it didn't work on all but one. You, Sanji"

"So she died because of me"
