Chapter 32

"Good Morning love birds" Blaise says as we slide onto the bench opposite him and Malia. I roll my eyes and grab some pancakes from the table.

"Just cause you're not getting any Blaise" Draco jokes before taking my hand from under the table. I smile at him and give it a squeeze.

"Just next time leave a note on our dorm room door" Malia jokes and I shake my head, taking a bite of my pancakes. "I've got potions, what about you two?"

"Same, it's going to be strange having a new professor teach potions" I say, finishing my breakfast and seeing Draco picking at his eggs. I hand him an orange juice and he smiles gratefully. "We should get going, don't want to make a bad impression" Draco and Malia nod as we get up saying goodbye to Blaise, making our way to potions. I grab my book from my bag and stand next to Draco in the class. I see Hermione and give her a small smile before turning my attention to Professor Slughorn.

"Attention to detail in the preparation is the prerequisite of all plan," Slughorn starts as the door opens and I see Harry and Ron come in. "Harry, my boy,I've been beginning to worry. You brought someone with us, I see" Ron looks extremely uncomfortable.

"Ron Weasley, sir" He says, scratching his head. "But I'm dead awful at Potions. A menace, actually so. I'm probably just gonna..." He starts to walk out but Harry stops him.

"Nonsense, we'll sort you out" Slughorn says. "Any friend of Harry's is a friend of mine. Get your books out" He goes to turn back to the class but Harry stops him.

"I'm sorry, sir, I haven't actually got my book yet and nor is Ron" Harry admits and Slughorn just waves his hand.

"Not to worry, get what you want from the cupboard" Slughorn says and they disappear over to the cupboard. "Now as I was saying,I prepared some concoctions this morning. Any ideas what these might be?" Hermione's hand shoots up and Slughorn motions for her to continue. "Yes, Miss...?"

"Granger, sir" Hermione answers, stepping forward to the table. "That one there is Veritaserum. It's a truth-telling serum"

"That one is fun," Malia says, nudging me and I remember our day with everyone and laugh.

"Miss Avery? If you feel the need to talk in my class then you will know this next one" Slughorn says and I walk forward looking at the potion.

"This is Amortentia" I say recognising the potion. "The most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumored to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them. For example, I smell... green apples, men's cologne and dark chocolate" I feel myself going red with embarrassment and walk away from the table quickly as Draco nudges me with a grin.

"Now Amortentia doesn't create actual love. That would be impossible, but it does cause powerful infatuation or obsession" Slughorn continues as some of the girls in the class start walking towards the potion. "And for that reason, it is probably the most dangerous potion in this room" He shuts the lid and the girls snap out of it.

"Sir, you haven't told us what's in that one" Katie says looking at the tiny vial.

"Oh yes. What you see before you, ladies and gentlemen, is a curious little potion, known as Felix Felicis" Slughorn says, grabbing the vial and holding it up. "But it is more commonly known as..."

"Liquid luck" Hermione says and Slughorn smiles.

"Yes, Miss Granger. Liquid luck" Slughorn continues. I see Draco slightly perk up looking at the vial."Desperately tricky to make, disastrous should you get it wrong. One sip and you'll find that all of your endeavours succeed. At least until the effects wear off. So this is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of liquid luck to the student who in the hour that remains, manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Dead.

Nevertheless, good luck to you all. Let the brewing commence" He finishes and all of us rush to our stations, I open my book and begin reading the instructions while grabbing all of the ingredients. Suddenly one of the beans flies across the room and I duck. Carrying on following the instructions that don't necessarily make sense. I try a few different things and start to get somewhere until Slughorn calls an end to the task as I see him bring Harry to the front. How on earth did he do it before Draco and Hermione they're the smartest in the class.

"Here we are then, as promised. One vial of Felix Felicis.
Congratulations" Slughorn says and we all clap congratulating Harry. "Use it well" The class ends and we leave both Malia and Draco bickering about the instructions for the potion. I walk behind them and chuckle at their bickering.

"I've got a free period so I'll see you guys after quidditch practice" I say kissing Dracos cheek and walking off to the library. Walking down the corridor I feel an arm around my arm pulling me into a classroom. "Hey! Oh Harry I'm sorry I didn't realise it was you"

"Did you get it?" He says, looking directly at my arm. I look at him both confused and hurt.

"No I didn't, Voldermort didn't think it wise considering I'd be being watched by everyone" I say crossing my arms and stepping away from him. "Is that all you wanted to interrogate me on or can I leave now?"

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be harsh" He says bowing his head slightly.

"Maybe next time start with a Hey Y/N how are you? Yanno, considering you're risking yours and your loved one's lives to help me" I snap and continue to hold my glare at him. I uncross my arms and reach into my bag pulling out a small notebook and shoving it at his chest. "There's everything I heard over the summer clearly that's what you wanted" I turn on my heel and storm out of the room not waiting for a minute more of conversation with him. Instead of going to the library I walk out of the castle for some fresh air.
