His Queen, Her King (Draco x Reader)

Chapter 29

My hand aches like hell as I write as much down on the pages that I can remember. My brain feels completely numb and I look up at the pink devil sat on Dumbledore's chair looking smug at all of the students who are exhausted from the three hours of exams we've already endured today. I keep taking sneaky glances at Draco in front of me who hasn't stopped writing once. Of course he hasn't, he's probably the smartest student here, he'd give Hermione a run for her money that's for sure. My head snaps up as I hear some bangs from outside, the rest of the students look up and stop writing. I look towards Umbridge who has stood up and starts to walk over to the door where the noise is coming from. The tension in the room intensifies as Draco and I make eye contact then I look back at the door. I put my pencil down slowly as I turned to watch Umbridge walking towards the door. Everyone in the room is looking at each other confused. The doors open and a small firework flies past Umbridge and explodes, I smirk to myself quietly. The twins. As if on cue they fly into the great hall on broomsticks and more fireworks fly around the room as I stand up walking towards Draco. Suddenly a massive dragon shaped firework chases Umbridge out of the hall and erupts as all of her silly rules come crashing down around her. Draco grabs my hand as we run out of the great hall following the twins and all the students are cheering, I turn to look for Harry and the others imagining the kick they're getting out of this as I turn I see Harry falling to the ground. I nudge Draco and he stops me from going to him motioning to the people around looking. I sigh quietly as they rush away.

"What do you think is going on?" I ask Draco as the commotion stops and we begin walking back to the common room.

"I don't know but I have a feeling I'm about to find out" Draco says as Umbridge and Filch come down the corridor.

"Mr Malfoy gathers the inquisitorial squad and follow me" She snaps, ignoring me completely, Draco nods and Malia joins me as he and Blaise follow down the corridor.

"Come with me quickly" She says, dragging me to mine and Draco's dorm room. I look at her confused as she closes the door and checks there's no one around.

"Um Mal? You're acting weird" I tell her as I take off my tie and sit on Draco's bed.

"They're going after Sirius, Harry had a vision and he's in trouble" She tells me and my eyes widen as I stand up.

"We have to go help them!" I say grabbing my wand. She takes my hands and shakes her head.

"We can't Y/N, we'd be killed or worse. Remember the plan" She says and I sigh pacing back and forth.

"How did you find out?" I ask her, trying to distract myself from everything that's going on.

"Ginny told me before going to help Harry" She says and sits on my bed, fiddling her thumbs. I nod and sit next to her. "This really sucks"

"Yeah it really does" I say with a small chuckle. The door swings open and Draco walks in alone. I stand quickly.

"They got away" He informs me and I hug him tightly.

"What do we do?" I ask and look back to Malia.

"We wait" Draco says and sits me on his bed across from Malia. All of us are fairly silent for a while, not knowing how much time has passed. Malia excuses herself to go and find Fred, Draco pulls me to lay next to him and fiddles with my hair for a while. I must fall asleep as the next thing I know I'm being shaken awake by Draco. I open my eyes and see Malia standing by the door sadly shifting uncomfortably. I sit up quickly.

"What happened?" I ask her. She lets a stray tear fall.

"Bellatrix killed Sirius, everyone else made it back" She says. "The Ministry saw him...they saw Voldemort. Everyone knows he's back" I feel my breath catch in my throat and fight the tears behind my eyes.

"I can't believe Sirius is gone..." I say and lean back against Draco's chest as he puts his arms around me. "How's Harry?" Malia gives me a look and I know instantly.

"That's not all I'm afraid...Draco I'm so sorry" Malia says and he stiffens behind me. "Your father has been arrested...he was there" I turn to Draco quickly and take his hand.

"He...he had it coming" Draco snaps, I look into his eyes and see him fighting back the tears. "He did this to himself"

"Draco..." I try but he shakes his head and I just pull him closer to me. "I'm so sorry" I hear the door close behind us and know that Malia has left us alone so Draco can do whatever he needs in private.

"Y/N?" Draco says and looks into my eyes holding onto both of my cheeks. "Can you promise me something?"

"Anything" I tell him. He smiles sadly.

"Promise me that this is forever" He says and I'm taken back by the question for a moment but nod smiling. I kiss him passionately and pull away leaning my forehead against his.

"I promise" I tell him honestly. "No matter what happens we will always have each other, to the very end"
