Michael woke up to the soft, golden light of the morning sun streaming through the curtains of his condo. He rolled over, smiling as he watched Melissa sleep peacefully beside him. This was their new normal, and it was everything he had ever hoped for. He quietly slipped out of bed, careful not to wake her, and headed to the kitchen to start breakfast.
As he cracked eggs into a bowl and whisked them, Michael's mind wandered to the day ahead. It was a Saturday, and they had planned a day of simple pleasures—breakfast, a visit to the farmers' market, and an afternoon of movies and relaxation. It was the kind of day that Michael had always dreamed of sharing with someone special, and now he had that with Melissa.
"Good morning," Melissa's voice broke through his thoughts. She stood in the doorway, her hair tousled and a sleepy smile on her face.
"Good morning, beautiful," Michael replied, his heart swelling with love. "I'm making breakfast. How do you feel about omelets?"
"Sounds perfect," she said, walking over to give him a quick kiss. "Let me help."
They worked together in the kitchen, a comfortable silence punctuated by laughter and playful teasing. Michael handed Melissa a plate of freshly made omelets, and they sat down at the table, enjoying their meal and each other's company.

At the office, the transition had been smooth. Melissa had made a concerted effort to connect with her colleagues, and it showed. As they walked into Dunder Mifflin on Monday morning, she greeted everyone with a warm smile.
"Good morning, Pam," Melissa said, stopping by Pam's desk. "How was your weekend?"
Pam looked up, her face lighting up. "It was great, thanks! Jim and I went to the beach. How about you and Michael?"
"We had a wonderful time. Spent the day at the farmers' market and then just relaxed at home," Melissa replied.
Pam nodded approvingly. "That sounds lovely."
Melissa moved through the office, engaging with her coworkers. She made sure to ask Stanley about his daughter's soccer game, checked in with Phyllis about her weekend plans, and even had a brief but friendly exchange with Angela about the office's upcoming charity event.
When she finally reached her desk, she found Dwight waiting for her.
"Melissa," Dwight began, his tone serious, "I need your input on the new security protocols I've devised. It's imperative we discuss this immediately."
Melissa suppressed a smile. Dwight's intensity was something she had come to appreciate. "Of course, Dwight. Why don't we go over them now?"
As they walked to the conference room, Melissa felt a sense of belonging. She had found her place at Dunder Mifflin, and it felt good.

Back in Michael's office, he was busy going over the day's agenda. He looked up as Jim knocked on the door and walked in.
"Hey, Michael. Got a minute?" Jim asked, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Sure, Jim. What's up?" Michael replied, leaning back in his chair.
Jim closed the door and sat down. "So, how's married life treating you?"
Michael's face lit up. "It's amazing, Jim. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world."
Jim chuckled. "I'm happy for you, Michael. Really. Melissa's great."
"She really is," Michael said, nodding. "I never thought I'd find someone who makes me this happy."
