A/N: August is going to be an extremely busy month for me, so updates will probably be every other week for now. Thank you for reading :)
"Want to get a drink tonight?" Emily pants once they're finished sparring.
"Absolutely. Where?"
"I was kind of hoping you had a place in mind..." Emily gives her a sheepish smile as they walk back toward the locker room.
"Would it be bad to ask you to come back to my apartment? Bars aren't always my speed." She doesn't need to add "anymore" to the end of that sentence for Emily to understand what she means.
"That's not bad at all. It actually sounds like much more fun than having to yell over the sounds of drunk people just to have a normal conversation." Emily smiles and stretches, wincing as her left arm straightens out above her head.
"You okay?" Emily nods and closes her eyes, continuing what appears to be a very familiar stretching routine. JJ knows she shouldn't, but she can't stop staring at Emily's body. She's lean, but she has curves in all the right places. The slight shine of sweat on her pale skin makes JJ's mind wander to places it absolutely should not be.
Emily catches her staring and smirks. "What are you thinking about over there, Jareau?"
A blush spreads across JJ's cheeks as she averts her gaze in a much too obvious way. "Just how I wish you would show me how to throw a better right hook. You really clocked me once." JJ tries to deflect. Emily lets her, sensing her growing discomfort.
"I don't usually share my trade secrets, but I may be able to make an exception for you."
"Same time next Friday?" JJ asks, gesturing toward the gym.
"Same time next Friday," Emily agrees.
They disappear into separate stalls to change back into their work clothes, neither of them speaking until they emerge back into the main area of the locker room. "So, did you want to come over right after work or wait until a little later?" JJ asks as they grab their bags and make their way slowly back toward the elevator.
"I was thinking I might swing by my apartment to shower and change into something more comfortable."
"I'll probably do the same when I get home. I can order takeout too; hopefully it'll get there around the same time as you."
"How do you feel about Chinese?" Emily asks, glancing at JJ out of the corner of her eye.
"I have very positive feelings toward Chinese." JJ grins at her, already thinking of the sesame chicken she orders at least a couple times per month.
"Thank goodness. I've been craving it all week."
"What's your go-to?"
"Beef and broccoli. Always." Emily nudges JJ with her shoulder as they climb into the elevator. "Red or white?" she continues once the doors close behind them.
"Red or white?"
"Wine!"
"Right. I can usually go for either, but today feels like a red day."
"Now that's what I like to hear. I'll bring a few bottles."
"A few? Emily Prentiss, are you planning to get wasted tonight?"
The doors open and Emily steps out, JJ following behind her. "I'm like a boy scout. Always prepared for anything." Emily winks at JJ over her shoulder and disappears into the bullpen.
...
JJ doesn't see Emily again until they're heading out for the weekend. "See you in a couple hours?" she asks as she walks past her desk on the way to the elevator.
