February 2007, in the plane for Alaska
POV Renesmee

I didn't understand why we were suddenly on a plane. I heard my mom talking to my dad about some danger coming, but I knew they didn't say much so I couldn't know. It was annoying. They always kept secrets from me because they thought I was too innocent. Pff!

I tried to ask Mom when we were on the plane and we had nothing to do.

"Mom, can you please explain to me why we're going to Alaska all of a sudden? I know it's not just to see Tanya, Kate, Carmen and Eleazar."

She seemed surprised.

"I told you, honey. We're going on a hunting trip."

I was sure there was something there. She looked too nervous for a hunting trip. I'll ask Rosalie, she'll give me more answers.

I got up to go to Rosalie's place. My mom let me go after asking me what I was doing.

When I was only a few feet from my aunt's seat, a lady told me I couldn't leave my seat. Rosalie gave her such a look that the lady didn't say anything and went back to check on the other passengers.

"Aunt Rose? Can you please tell me where we are going? Please don't tell me we're going to see our Denali cousins or for a hunting trip, I know there's more to it than that."

She habitually gave me answers. She was the only one who did.

"Well, honey, we are in danger again. When you weren't born, the family had a fight with some bad people. Your father killed the leader of the fight. There was also a little girl who belonged to the bad people. We wanted to give her a chance to be part of our family, but the Volturi came and killed her because they don't give second chances. Now there is a girl, the leader's girlfriend and the little girl's sister. She's coming for revenge against us because she thinks it's our fault that she lost everything. She's building an army. Don't worry, they won't touch you. We made this trip to relax our minds a bit before the coming war."

I had no words. How come my parents never told me about all this?

"Thank you, Auntie! You're the only one who always tells me the truth."

I hugged her before returning to sit beside my mother. This time the lady was silent.

February 2007, Denali
POV Bella Cullen

When we got off the plane and walked through the airport, I asked Rosalie to talk to me a little before we went to Tanya's house.

"Why did you tell Renesmee all this? It's only going to scare her!"

Rosalie and I were never really close, except for the month I was pregnant. She was jealous that I was human. She said she didn't hate me, but I wasn't that stupid. I remember the way she looked at me in the cafeteria. It was the first time she ever looked at me. She locked our eyes and I couldn't look away. I was shocked when she said she was jealous of me. Why would a girl like her, obviously the prettiest in the world, be jealous of me, the little person whose looks are nothing but... simple?

"She has the right to know what goes on in our lives, especially when hers is in danger!"

She defended Renesmee, of course. She loved my daughter so much that she was a little overrated. She bought her what she wanted, she took her where she wanted, she told her what she wanted to know. She's always wanted to be a mother since she was human, and it's only gotten worse since she's a vampire.

When I tried to answer her, Edward took my arm and led me away from Rosalie.

"Alice just had a vision," he told me. "Camilla is coming to Alaska. We don't know where, but she will definitely come to Denali because the airport is here."

The windows became more frequent as we walked through the airport. I lowered my head, hoping my hair would hide my face enough to keep it from shining through. Edward did the same.

I knew there was no way we could hide from Camilla. The scent of a vampire was very different from that of a human. She would smell us all the way to Tanya's house. She would.

I never went to Tanya's house. They came to see us at our wedding, when we first met, and they came to see us about two months ago.

Tanya, Kate, Carmen and Eleazar's house was very nice. Not as nice as the Cullen's, but nice enough to say that the people who lived there had money. It's a brown modern house, not really my style, but cool. I was more into old houses. The ones that had traveled through time, had people in them, but still felt like home.

The interior was as beautiful as the exterior, if not more so. We knew it had been designed by talented people. Every object was where it was supposed to be. Carmen seemed to see my fascinated look because she said:

"The house may look modern to you, but you should know it's three centuries old. We designed it all ourselves.

She smiled at me. I appreciated it, but I preferred to be lost in my thoughts today. We all had to be ready for March 20th. I started to think about how to protect Renesmee when I remembered that Rosalie was already taking care of that. Protect Charlie? He had no right to be in danger. Billy will probably take him fishing. He will be safe in La Push.

Thinking of La Push... We will have to ask Jacob and the wolves to fight with us. It was not easy to ask them to sacrifice themselves. They were so young and innocent! But I knew Jacob would insist on helping us. When he imprinted on Renesmee, he changed a lot. He became more distant from me. He wanted to protect Renesmee no matter what. He was even willing to sacrifice his friends, his brothers, to protect my daughter!

After an hour of talking with our cousins, we left the house to go hunting, because that was the main purpose of the trip.

We entered the forest, running. After a mile we stopped. A now all too familiar vampire scent was everywhere. Over the trees, the leaves, even on the ground. As if the person had been there five minutes ago, or even right now.

"Alice?"

After Carlisle said that, I looked at her. She looked panicked, and so did Edward.
