You gulp as you watch the leader of the Emperor's Coven, Lilith Clawthorne, walk towards you. You weren't sure if it was her rank or her that made you nervous, but whenever she was near, your heart would beat a little faster and you couldn't seem to talk properly. It didn't help that she would give you a disapproving look whenever she inspected your uniform, causing you to doubt your worthiness of this job.

"(Y/N), meet me in my office in a few minutes, I have something to discuss with you." You bowed and tried your best to seek calm, "Yes ma'am." You went to your patrol partner for a little encouragement, but they weren't much help. "Come on newbie, it's just Lilith. The worst she can do to you is just yell at you and make you clean the whole palace by hand. She hardly talks to us." Those words didn't make you feel any better. "That's what's scaring me, she hardly talks to us! Why would she even call me to her office anyways? And I thought she didn't like it whenever we call her by her first name?"

"I don't."

You and your patrol partner quickly turn, only to be greeted by Lilith herself, who looked very annoyed.

Your partner began stumbling on their words, "Coven Leader, I apologize-" Lilith held out her hand, immediately silencing them. "I'll let it slide just this once." Her gaze turned towards you, "As for you, I believe that I called you into my office." She hooks a finger and motions for you to follow her. You quickly follow her lead and turn back to see your partner mouthing 'good luck'.

Lilith opens the door to her office and allows you to enter first, and you immediately take a seat. She sits across from you and you try your best to avoid her eyes. "There's no reason to be nervous, you're not in trouble," Lilith remarks, finding amusement in your anxiety. You feel yourself relax a bit, "I'm not?" She smiles, "No, but I do have a task for you. You see, I have been chosen to be this year's covention's mystery guest, and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me, in case I need extra protection."

"Oh, yes...of course! How many other coven guards will be there?" "There won't be any others, just you and I." You felt yourself stiffen again. You could barely keep your composure with her now, how are you going to handle a full day with her?

Lilith smirks, "Will there be a problem (Y/N)?"

You shake your head, "Nope! You can count on me!" You wish she would've chosen another guard, but you have to keep your professionalism. She rests her hand on yours and pats it, "Great! I knew I could rely on you!"

You wish she hadn't.

Later that night, you ended up venting to your partner about your conversation with Lilith, and to your surprise, they also found it weird that she only wanted you to accompany her. "That's strange, whenever she goes to coventions, she always goes by herself. She doesn't even bring us to her missions."
"So why do you think she chose to bring me with you?" Your partner shrugs their shoulders, "Beats me, she's probably only taking you with because you're new. But even if that's the case, she's never done that with new guards before."  You try not to think too deeply about it, but if your patrol partner found it weird, then what exactly could she be planning?

Lilith was never one to pay much attention to the guards, yes, she was their boss and in charge of them, but she never bothered to get to know them personally. But when she first met you, something made you stand out to her. She couldn't quite place her finger on it, but she could name some traits she liked. Maybe it was the way you immediately obeyed her commands, or maybe it was the way you trembled in her presence. She was fully aware of the crush you had on her, she noticed as soon as she caught you staring at her during your orientation.
