God, was flying always this draining? It must be the jet lag or something because I was the only one affected. Killua was right as rain and carried both our bags. They were the same ones we'd had since we were kids. After a bit of talking and mulling it over Killua and I decided to accept the invitation to become examiners this year. So off we went back to my old home, the hunters association. Killua did however take a day or two to talk it over with Alluka on the phone. He wanted to make sure she knew where we were going to be in case of an emergency. Of course, she had Bisky and Apollo to keep an eye on her.
We called up Bisky before Alluka left three years ago so that she could learn to control Nanika. Apollo on the other hand followed her willing. He seemed to love the way she treated him like a stuffed animal. I obviously missed the both of them but I trusted I'd see them soon.
"Are we there yet?" I whined in the taxi while Killua scrolled on his phone.
"Just a couple minutes dearest." He said in a funny and mocking tone. He'd been doing that every time I complained about something of little significance. He'd also picked up pet names over the years, mostly using them to make fun of me but sometimes they were meant to be endearing. Now was not one of those times.
Killua didn't lie however and we were at the association in no time. Killua opted to pay the taxi driver instead of just showing him his license. He always was more polite than me in that sense. Maybe it was because he'd grown up rich? I shrugged the thought off and took a deep breath as we approached the building. I grabbed Killuas ever cold and comforting hand as we walked inside. Everything was so... different. Cheadle had changed so much within the buildings interior.
I ignored the stark changes from my childhood as me and Killua made our way into the elevator. We earned a few looks from people here and there. Mostly because of who we were. I mean, a Zoldyck and the previous chairman's granddaughter? That's bound to garner a few stares. I let out a deep sigh of relief when the elevator doors shut and the horrible music began. At least that was the same.
"Any second thoughts?" Killua glanced down at me and I shook my head. Another thing that had changed drastically over the years was our height difference. Killua was basically a giant like the rest of his family. Last time I checked he had to have been at least 6'3. I drew the short end of the stick and didn't make it past 5'6.
"No, it's just different." I mumbled as the elevator dinged and the doors opened. It lead straight into Beans' office. He was older now of course but he stayed the same in personality.
"I'm afraid the chairman is busy at the moment please come back at a later time." He spoke without looking up. Always the workaholic.
"I'm sure she can make an acception?" I ginned down at Beans' aghast face. The saying took me back to when I was younger. He soon returned the smile and stood up to give me a quick hug. One that I had to kneel on the ground for.
"Oh my! I didn't know the two of you would be coming so soon! I would've cleared Cheadle's schedule." I waved it off and glance down the hall at my old room.
"Don't worry about it. Me and Killua will just crash in my room until she can see us. My room is still the same though, right?" I asked and Beans nodded.
"Don't worry, I'll come get the two of you as soon as she's available!" Beans smiled and walked back over to his desk.
Killua gave him a curt wave as we walked down the hall and into my room. It was exactly the same as it was five years ago. Albeit a little dusty. If you looked hard enough you could still see bits of styrofoam that came from my old bean bag. Y'know, the one that Gon and Killua exploded? Yeah, still salty about that. Killua let out a deep sigh and flopped onto my bed face first.
"Geez Y/n, I forgot how comfy this bed was." His words were muffled by the comforter but I understood just fine.
I spun around in a circle and examined the room. My eyes finally landed on the dresser in the corner. I walked over to it and opened the top drawer.
Stifling a laugh I pulled out a small pair of shorts from the drawer and held them up. "Killua, what is the likelihood that these would fit?"
Killua sat up and looked at the pair of shorts and then scanned my body. "No offense, but your butt will not fit into those tiny shorts." He said as his face grew a light pink. I laughed out loud and knocked my head back.
"Yeah but it wouldn't be as bad as Gon's old booty shorts." I laughed.
He rolled his eyes and stood up from my bed, dragging his feet over to me. I turned around to put the shorts back and his arms slid around my waist, chin resting on my shoulder.
"What say ye to a nap?" He asked and planted a soft kiss on my neck. "Yes please!" I grinned and jumped past him and onto the bed, kicking my shoes off in the process. Killua grinned back and crawled onto the bed, laying his entire body weight on me.
"Oof! Killua get your fatass off of me or I'll die!" I mock complained. He didn't move.
"No thanks." He mumbled and shoved his face into the crook of my neck.
Oh well, not like I actually minded. I slithered my arms around his neck and slipped a hand into his hair. So far, being an examiner is great. If this is what we get to do when we don't have a phase sign me up for every year!
