What Happens After Forever?

Chapter 2

     Our nap ended up being an all nighter and when I woke up Killua had already ordered breakfast. He sat at my old desk and ate a chocolate dipped donut as he scrolled through his phone. I dragged myself out of bed and onto the floor beside the desk where he handed me a coffee and glazed donut. There were no words exchanged. It was way too early for that. Perks of both of us not being morning people. I was mid bite into my donut when a knock sounded on the door. Killua got up to answer the door but his stink eye remained.
      "Yeah?" He grumbled and stared down at Pariston. The ex-vice chairman's smile never faltered as he invited himself in.
       That seemed to anger Killua a bit because I could see his eye twitch. I didn't exactly like Pariston inviting himself in but seeing Killua get annoyed was funny.
      "Sorry Cheadle couldn't meet with the two of you yesterday. She's a busy lady you know? Anyways I've just come to tell you that you two will be in charge of the third phase of the exam this year. You may choose any location and challenge. There will be a meeting with all the other examiners this evening at 6 o'clock in Cheadle's office. Now, if you'll excuse me." Pariston spoke fast and then left. No questions asked.
Killua and I slowly made eye contact and then burst into laughter. It was just the pure silence and eye contact. Anything could be made funny with those two things.
I pulled myself up into my desk chair and Killua flopped back onto my bed.
"So, any ideas for an exam?" He asked while looking out my window/wall. I hummed to myself.
"One on one fights?" I asked and Killua snorted. "C'mon be nice to them."
I rolled my eyes and drank some of my coffee.
"I dunno, what else are we good at? We aren't exactly specialty hunters." I mumbled to myself and Killua shot up, finger pointed like he had an idea.
"What if we pull an old Gon and do some arm wrestling?" My eyes lit up with the idea. "And we can still screw with people because the dumb ones will think I'm easier to arm wrestle!" I grinned and stood up in excitement.
"Yeah well I can beat you in an arm wrestle so we should give them a demonstration." He grumbled the beginning but then cheered up towards the end of his sentence.
It was true, nearly everybody would lose to Killua in an arm wrestling contest. The only people who could ever really compete were Gon and Bisky. Well, technically Bisky won most of the time. I was still decently strong and could hold my own against Killua for a while. I'd asked him to give me some Zoldyck strength training a while ago. Of course without the torture and punishments.
"Ok genius, this is good. Now, what to wear?" Killua whispered to himself and stalked over to his bag. Killua also carried most of my clothes because just like when I was twelve, I refuse to carry them.
"Dude, just wear your normal clothes. You don't always have to be a fashion icon." Killua shot me a glare and huffed. "My rank in 'Dress to Impress' says otherwise."
I rolled my eyes at his antics and finished my breakfast. We didn't have anything planned for the day other than the meeting, so we'd probably just nap most of the day. Though, I did end up putting real clothes on and showering.
My outfit consisted of a fitted maroon tee and back jean shorts. I'd yet to leave behind my converse so that stayed the same, along with the baggy leather jacket that Louise had given me. I also donned a black holster on my torso that didn't have any weapons for the moment. Right now it was just for show.
A few years ago I started letting Killua cut my hair so it was shoulder length now. Killua on the other hand basically had a mullet going on. But not quite because he didn't shave or shorten the sides. He said that was the longest he'd grow it because he didn't want long hair like the rest of his family. Mostly Illumi.
His style, along with mine, hadn't changed much over the years either. He wore a back turtleneck with a blue pinstriped oversized button up and jorts. He had a few buttons undone to seem edgy I guess. After nearly seven years though I'd yet to get him out of those ugly ass shoes.

Safe to say we were the best dressed examiners based off of everyone here. They were pretty random people that I'd never seen before. We had all been sat down by Cheadle to introduce ourselves but I mostly zoned out. Everyone announced their names, phase, and what their exam would be. One thing that did strike me as odd though was that our phase one examiner was missing. Killua must've been thinking the same because we gave each other a look.
Though, not even five minutes later the door bursts open to someone panting slightly. "Sorry I'm late Miss Cheadle! You know how my dad is..." Gon trailed off. Oh shit. OH SHIT. That's Gon! Killua and I immediately snapped our heads to look at each other and then back at Gon as we made eye contact with him. He slowly let out a guilty grin and both me as Killua stood up.
"What the hell Gon?! Do you know how worried we've been?" Killua started- "yeah what the hell? You stopped answering our calls and messages like- four years ago!" I finished.             
       Cheadle cut Gon off.
"That's enough you three. You can catch up later. For now let's finish this meeting. The exam starts tomorrow!" We nodded and sat back down, still watching Gon from the corners of our eyes. He announced that he was phase one and he would be doing a version of 'Hide and Seek'. That's very Gon. Myself and Killua decided that our phase would take place immediately following phase two and wherever they chose to go. We're too lazy to figure that stuff out.
Once the meeting was finally over we stopped Gon outside the office and dragged him to my room. He didn't say anything, just gave a guilty smile.
"Well? Care to explain yourself?" I tapped my foot and Killua stood slightly behind and to my left. Gon rubbed the back of his neck.
"How about I explain over our very long overdue dinner?" He said shyly but spoke of our deal from the first phase of our hunters exam. Killua and I made eye contact and simultaneously nodded, effectively making Gon grow a huge grin.
