Fifteen days had passed since Prisha's return was supposed to happen. Varun had been patient, thinking she might need some extra time to unwind after her vacation. But as the days turned into weeks, his patience wore thin.

He tried calling her, but her phone was unreachable. He sent messages, but they went unread. He even went to her house, but it was locked, with no signs of life.

Varun's worry turned to stress, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Had something happened to her? Was she in trouble? Why wasn't she responding?

He tried to focus on work, but his concentration was gone. He found himself constantly checking his phone, hoping for a message or call from Prisha.

Colleagues noticed his distraction and asked if everything was okay. Varun brushed it off, not wanting to share his concerns.

As the days turned into weeks, Varun's stress turned to fear. Where was Prisha? Why had she vanished?

Varun decided to take a different approach. He contacted HR, explaining the situation, and requested Prisha's emergency contact number. After some persuasion, HR agreed to share the number, citing concerns for Prisha's well-being.

Varun dialed the number, his heart racing with anticipation. A lady answered, sounding pleasant but unfamiliar.

"Hello, can I speak to Prisha?" Varun asked, trying to sound calm.

"Who is this?" the lady replied, her tone neutral.

"I'm Varun, a colleague of Prisha's. We've been trying to reach her, and I'm getting worried."

The lady hesitated, then said, "Hold on, I'll hand over the phone to her."

Varun waited, his mind racing with possibilities. Finally, a voice he recognized spoke up, but it sounded... different. The tone was off, the pitch slightly higher.

"Varun?" the voice said, her voice laced with a hint of uncertainty.

"Do we know each other?" the voice questioned.

Varun's heart skipped a beat. "Prisha, it's me, Varun! We work together, we're colleagues... friends," he said, trying to sound calm, but his mind racing with confusion.

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "Varun? I'm sorry, I don't remember a Varun. Who is this?" the voice said, sounding genuinely puzzled.

Varun handed the phone to Rhea, the HR representative from TechNovva Solutions. "Rhea, I think there's something fishy going on. Prisha's voice sounds different, and she doesn't remember me."

Rhea's expression turned serious as she took the phone. "Hello? This is Rhea from HR. Can you please confirm your identity?"

The voice on the other end replied, "I'm Prisha."

Rhea asked, "Prisha, can you please tell me your employee ID number?"

The voice hesitated before responding, "I... I don't know."

Rhea's eyes met Varun's, and they both sensed something was off. "Prisha, we need to verify your identity. Can you please come to the office tomorrow with your ID and any other relevant documents?"

The voice agreed, and Rhea ended the call. She turned to Varun and said, "This is strange. I'll investigate further and get back to you."

Varun nodded, still trying to process what was happening. Who was this imposter?

The next day, Rhea and Varun waited anxiously for "Prisha" to arrive. When she walked in, they were shocked to see a woman who looked nothing like their colleague.

Who is this mysterious newcomer, and what has she done with the real Prisha? See you in the next chapter...
