In the shadowed corners of my heart, love stayed,
A figure, unclear and full of doubt.
Eyes, once bright with shared dreams, did fade,
Into a haze where love's light went out.
Maybe an old love was what she sought,
A memory that felt more real.
Or maybe our future together was not,
A place where she felt love's true appeal.
She misunderstood my true intent,
Thinking my heart was just a disguise.
And though my love was honestly sent,
Her heart gave no loving replies.
Unable to give back what was received,
She kept her love in silent refrain.
In my affection, she never believed,
And all my efforts were spent in vain.
My mistakes were counted more than my love,
In a world of shifting loyalty.
Her words cut deep, a painful shove,
Of disrespect given so casually.
I gave my all, tried to win her back,
Fought for love that wouldn't revive.
I felt I could endure the pain she gave,
But she couldn't bear the hurt from my side.
So here I stand, alone but strong,
With lessons learned and heart more wise.
Though shadows linger, they won't stay long,
I'll find the strength to seek clear skies.
