The party was winding down, the music a low thrum as guests slowly filtered out of the house. Brittany stood by the pool, absently watching the last few ripples on the water's surface when she felt a presence beside her. She turned to see Michael, his expression serious.
"Brittany," he said, his voice low but firm. "You and Santana need to get into that car over there." He pointed to a sleek black sedan parked discreetly by the side gate.
Brittany frowned, her brows knitting together in confusion. "What? Why?"
Michael's gaze softened slightly, but he remained resolute. "It's taking you to your new house."
Her eyes widened as she processed his words. "But—" she began, but Michael shook his head, silencing her protest.
"No arguments, Brittany. It's all been arranged." He squeezed her shoulder briefly before turning on his heel and walking away, leaving her staring blankly after him.
Brittany stood frozen, trying to make sense of what had just happened. She was so lost in thought that she barely noticed when Damien came up beside her, nudging her shoulder lightly.
"Hey, what did Dad want?" Damien asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
Brittany rubbed her face roughly, trying to ground herself in the moment. "I'm moving out," she said flatly, the reality of it hitting her as she spoke.
"What?" Damien's frown deepened, his confusion matching hers.
Without another word, Brittany turned and made her way across the patio, her footsteps heavy as she approached Santana. Santana was surrounded by her friends, laughing loudly at some joke that had just been told. Brittany stood awkwardly at the edge of the group, waiting as they slowly dispersed. Some of Santana's friends glanced curiously at her, but Santana was too caught up in the conversation to notice.
Finally, as the last of her friends wandered off, Santana turned around and nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw Brittany standing there. "You scared me!" she laughed, her hand flying to her chest. "What's up?"
Brittany hesitated, still processing the situation herself. "My dad told me that we have to go into the car over there instead of leaving with our family," she said, nodding towards the car Michael had pointed out.
Santana frowned, her eyes narrowing as she leaned in closer. "Is he trying to make us have sex or something?" she whispered, her tone a mix of confusion and suspicion.
Brittany's eyes widened in shock. "What? No! The driver's taking us to our new house."
Santana's expression shifted from suspicion to understanding. "Ohhh... wait, new house?" She tilted her head, trying to recall.
Brittany nodded, her voice softening. "I told you about this when we were in my room that one time."
Santana's frown deepened as she searched her memory. "All I remember is kissing you," she finally admitted, a sheepish grin tugging at the corner of her lips.
Brittany blushed, the memory causing a warm flush to spread across her cheeks. "We should go before the driver gets annoyed," she said quickly, eager to change the subject.
Santana nodded in agreement but then paused, her eyes lighting up with a sudden thought. "Wait here," she said, and before Brittany could respond, Santana darted off towards the house. She returned a moment later, grinning mischievously as she held up two bottles of vodka. "They hid this from us."
Brittany smirked, taking one of the bottles from Santana. "Guess we'll break in the new place properly."
With that, Brittany led the way to the waiting car, Santana by her side. As they climbed in, Brittany felt a strange mix of excitement and anxiety settle in her stomach.
