Olive was jolted by someone slamming their hand down on the table in front of her.
"Hey beautiful, mind if I sit here?"
She lifted her eyes to see Charlotte in her signature black off-the-shoulder sweater looking down at her with a smirk on her face.
"I do actually, but you'll sit here anyway." She scoffed.
Char plopped herself down and slung her bag on the ground, relishing in the annoyed look the girl across her wore. "Oh, you just know me so well, Olive."
Olive tore her gaze away from the mesmerizing glint in Char's red eyes and back to her work book. She had work to do, and she couldn't let Char stop her.
To her surprise though, she didn't say anything else while she worked, and when she peeked up at her through her bangs, Char was staring right at her with her head tilted ever so slightly and rested on her hands like some kind of curious dog.
"Don't you have work to do?" Said Olive, trying to hide her heated cheeks behind a curtain of blond hair.
"Probably. But I don't feel like doing it." She responded, continuing to stare at her with a smile. Irritated, Olive picked up her things and stood to walk away.
Char didn't seem to get the hint because she grabbed her bag and followed her into the hallway, easily keeping up with her taller stature.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Her worried expression only served to anger her even more.
Olive rolled her eyes at such a obvious question. "Do you really have the IQ of a chicken nugget? I'm impressed that someone can be that stupid."
Char put a pained hand over her heart dramatically. "Ouch Olive, I was just asking what's up with you."
She couldn't fathom why Char cared about her at all, with her whole baddie reputation. It's not like she was pretending to care for any other reason than to piss her off. "Well, I'm sorry that I don't like being stared at by randos while I study." She apologized sarcastically.
For a moment, it almost seemed like Char blushed. Almost. "I wasn't staring at you, I was just thinking about how ugly your hair looks." She retorted, looking away.
Olive gasped. "You're not in much of a place to be making such fake accusations." She huffed, tucking her hair behind her ear. "And your hair isn't much better. It's always down and boring."
Olive didn't have anything against Char's long black locks, she actually quite liked how smooth and soft it always looked, (she'd never tell her that though) but she didn't have much of a choice. Her ego is pretty important.
Char continued walking beside her, unfazed by the insult. Olive was unnerved by this, she knew that Charlotte always wanted the last say. Not that she paid attention to her or anything. Gosh, she was just really annoying and got in her head, that's all.
Worried that she'd hurt her feelings, Olive cleared her throat. "Sorry."
The girl turned to face Olive. "I knew it." She said with a victorious smirk.
Olive's apologetic mood evaporated, replaced with one of curiosity. "What do you mean?"
"You're a people pleaser."
Well, this girl really just wanted to piss her off today. She couldn't believe that she wanted to apologize to her.
"I am not a people pleaser!!"
"Well, you just apologized for insulting me after I insulted you. Only people pleasers do that." Char noted.
Olive turned and jabbed her finger into Char's chest. "I honestly don't know what your deal is, but I would appreciate it if you shut up." She snarled.
Char leaned in, making their faces just inches apart. "Make me, blondie."
Olive glared at her, with her mischievous eyes partially covered by her dark hair, and her daring smirk that made her heart pound. She had a ridiculous urge to brush the hair out of her eyes, but then she regained her common sense.
Her brain was just getting confused because her hand was wanting to slap Char's smirk right off, but her stupid face was just looking annoyingly perfect.
Remembering that Char was still inches away from her, Olive shoved her away, her cheeks heating.
"Get lost." She mumbled, adjusting her books to hide as much of her red face as possible.
Charlotte stood and watched as Olive all but ran away back into the school. She was smiling from the fact that she won yet again.
"The only time I get lost is in your eyes, nerd." She chuckled, too quiet for Olive to hear.
