Charlotte shot up at the knock on the door. She rushed over to open it, where Olive stood, holding a plastic tupperware and multiple notebooks and folders.
"You really are punctual. 5 o'clock exactly." She joked.
"I just like following through on my plans." She offered the tupperware. "Here."
"What's this for?" Char asked, taking it and peering inside, seeing chocolate chip cookies and taking one to try.
"Homemade cookies. They're preferably for everyone but you."
Char rolled her eyes and took a bite anyway. "Mmm. This is good! What recipe do you use?"
She crossed her arms. "My own. I made it when I was 11. And no, I won't give it to you." She added before Char could ask.
She huffed. As least she had the rest of the container to eat. "I'll just have to have you over again for more then."
Olive raised an eyebrow. "I doubt you can get me to be around you for any longer than needed."
She seemed to have forgotten about how she was here in her house in the first place, but Char let it slide.
She then brought Olive inside the house and stopped off at the kitchen to drop off the cookies, grabbing one for the road.
Suddenly, a tiny dog appeared and jumped into Char's arms. She squealed and fumbled to catch it.
"Choupi! What did we say about sneak attacks?!" She scolded, scratching behind the dog's black and white spotted ears.
Then Choupi seems to notice Olive, and jumped out at her like how she attacked Char with an adorable little bark.
Olive screamed and cover her face to protect herself.
Char reacted quickly and grabbed the dog right out of the air, stopping mere inches from Olive's face.
"Choupi, no! We don't attack our friends!"
The dog let out a whine and Char let her go on the ground.
Char helped Olive pick up her notebooks that she dropped when she was being attacked while Choupi went off to likely jump scare someone else.
"That was unexpected." She said, looking very shook.
"Yeah, that's Choupi. She's not like the other girls."
Olive rolled her eyes at the dated joke.
"Shall we?" Char gestured to the staircase beside them.
The two teens walked up the stairs and entered her room.
Olive took in Charlotte's room. "It's... not what I imagined."
Char wasn't surprised by this. No one expects the 'bad girl' to have dozens of tiny anime figurines neatly displayed around her room. On shelves, on desks, it's almost like they were taking over. There were even some posters of her favorite anime characters.
She shrugged. "I'm an anime girl. Sue me."
"Well, I guess I can't judge. We all have our quirks." Olive sat down on the simple blue rug in the middle of the room, one of the only things not anime inspired, and spread out her notebooks and pulled out some pens from one of the pouches in her binder.
Char joined her, sitting criss-cross applesauce like a child. She was surprised at how many notebooks she had brought. It was only an hour long meet up.
"First things first." Olive took out her planner book and opened it up. "You need to play violin for me."
"Wait, what?"
Olive looked up, a smirk on her face. "It's why I'm here. You're not getting cold feet, are you?"
"Of course not! I never back down from a challenge." She said defensively.
"Then go ahead." Olive motioned to the violin case placed beside her desk.
Char got up and grabbed the case. She opened it and took out the violin and her bow. "Any requests?" She asked as she stood up and prepared herself.
"Do you know Chaconne?"
She smiled. That was the first song she learned on the violin. She closed her eyes and drew her bow along the strings. Char remembered the notes perfectly, pulling gently on the tight strings, quickly adjusting her fingers to change the sound.
When she finished, Olive clapped respectfully, but she had a pensive look on her face. "It was ok, but you messed up one of the chords."
Before Char could do anything about her comment, Olive got up and moved Char's violin back to a playing position. She then grabbed her hand and placed it on the top of strings. "You were playing the G like this." She adjusted Charlotte's fingers, not looking at her face. "But it should be like this." Olive then moved it to a slightly different fingering, with her hand firmly resting on hers.
Olive looked up, a proud smile on her face and her blue eyes all lit up.
Char was blushing.
Like, REALLY blushing.
Olive noticed and her face turned red too. "Sorry." She backed up a step, taking her hand with her. "Umm, yeah, that's how you do it."
Char looked away and cleared her throat, trying to regain her composure.
"So, now that we got that done, are we gonna start the project?" She said, ignoring the fact that she could still feel the warmth of Olive's hand on hers.
"Sure. Let's do that." Olive opened to a blank page and wrote 'Science project #23 with Charlotte' neatly. "Ok, so first we have to-"
"You remember how many other projects we've had?" Char interrupted.
Olive frowned at the interruption, but answered. "How else would I organize all of my school projects?"
"By being normal."
"By being disorganized, you mean." She retorted. "First, we have to choose what topic we're gonna do."
