The Star slammed the papers on the table, wanting to scream. A black-haired girl laughed from her corner of the badly lit library study room, flipping through a magazine and leaning back in a chair.

"I didn't know that you hated university homework that much, Olive." She smiled.

Olive rolled her eyes. The "university homework" she was doing was actually research about the Stone of Galena. She had no idea that it was a magic artifact, but if Viva could figure it out, so could she.

"Yeah, it's just really hard." Her fake smile looked more like a grimace.

Magazine girl laughed. "Here, let me help. What are you even studying?"she stood up, tossed her magazine on the table, and walked beside her to look at the papers.

"No!" Said Olive, grabbing the papers and holding them at her chest so she couldn't see them. "Uh, I mean, you don't have to. I got it Char." She added when Charlotte quirked an eyebrow.

Thankfully, Char just chuckled and said "Ha, I'm not that bad at doing work you know." And returned back to reading her magazine.

No one knew that Olive was actually The Star, and she intended on keeping it that way. She would only be putting herself and the people she loves at risk if everyone knew who she was.

Carefully laying the yellowed papers back on the table, she got a spare sheet and wrote down what she had learned so far.

The Stone of Galena was created in the Fire ages by the Blood Clan, years before The Great Battle of Mages. It was used to win a small war between The Sun Clan and the Blood Clan, but the Sun Clan hid it away after their victory because of...

Something.

Something that made it dangerous, but she couldn't seem to find anything on it for the life of her.

So much history was lost after The Great Battle of Mages, when all of the magic clans went to war, resulting in a bloodbath that nearly wiped out all witches, wizards, and mages. Leaving only some small groups of nomads to lead. They chose to ban magic for the grater good, and Olive couldn't really argue with their reasoning. It's not that great for the situation though. She was the only one who can do magic that she knew of- except for Viva, but she didn't count -and she was lucky that magic and the old laws banning it had all but been forgotten. Otherwise, she would be burned, hanged, studied, or anything worse for practicing it.

"I'm gonna head out. You ok to keep studying by yourself?" Charlotte said, interrupting her thoughts.

"Oh, yeah that's fine." Olive glanced at the clock. 9:50??? When did it get that late? "I should get home too." She started picking up her papers, but one fell to the ground.

Char bent down to pick it up before Olive could get to it, sending her into a panic. She merely glanced at the title, looked up, and handed it back to her with a smirk.

"Wow, magic history, huh? No wonder it's got you all stressed. It's a hassle to find anything on it." She said.

Letting out a breath, she took the paper back. "Yeah, it's pretty annoying." The Star read the title of the paper. 'The Creation of the Stone of Galena'. Huh. How did Char know that the Stone of Galena was magic? Or what it was?

"Hey, how did you-" she started to ask, but when she looked up, her friend was already gone.
