A/N - ** = Flashback because I'm lazy and dint want to write "flashback"
----------
When the next morning finally rolled around, there was a platinum blond boy sitting in my dorm. I let out a screech and roll away, causing me to fall off my bed and land on my back on the floor.
"Merlin, l/n! Maybe don't fall?" Draco rushed over and held out his hand, helping me up to my feet, which I was immensely grateful for.
"Har har. I was just spooked. I didn't expect you to turn back into, well-" I wave my hand at him, "-you. I guess."
He let out a chuckle and picked up my locket that fell onto the floor. Arching his brow, he opened it. Which terrified me. Inside was a picture of me and my father when I was younger on one side, while the other side had an engraved message written in my father's script.
"I'll always be there for you."
Draco shut the locket and handed it to me with a sad smile. "Was that your father?"
I nod, looping the jewelry over my head.
"He sounds like a lovely person," He said, which shocked me. I never really pegged him as the type to compliment someone.
"He was..." I say, causing his smile to turn into a sad frown, his eyebrows knitting together.
"I'm sorry..."
"It's alright." I shrug, still finding it crazy how he was showing sympathy for me.
He cleared his throat, fixing the tie to the uniform McGonangall had instructed me to keep in my dorm for when he turned back into a human. I look over at the other girls, still dead asleep. They were always rather heavy sleepers. Except Katie. Who, upon closer inspection, was watching the interaction between me and Draco with one eye open.
I chuckle lightly. She always was a bit of a snooper. Always trying to get into someone's business. It wasn't ever for a bad reason like blackmail. She just liked knowing things.
Which I didn't mind.
I direct my attention back to Draco. "Uhm, you should probably go before everyone wakes up," I suggest, gesturing to the door if the girls' dormitories.
"Ah... Right." He sauntered toward the door, but he paused, angling his head slightly toward me. "Y'know... You're not so bad, l/n." He gave a faint smile, which, in turn, brought a smile of my own to grace my features.
"Not so bad yourself, Malfoy."
He let out a light chuckle before turning the door knob and exiting the room.
"That was actually kind of sweet." Katie sat up in her bed, startling me. Her voice was still thick with sleep.
"Yeah, I suppose so." I sat back on my bed.
"So... You and Fred are finally getting along." She asked. Or stated. I couldn't tell. Either way, the subject change was abrupt and unexpected.
"Huh? Oh. That's cause George made us bet on it. Wait- no. I made it a bet. Geirge just asked us to 'At least pretend.'"
"How's that workin' out for ya?" She rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she sat up, her hair tangled.
"It's going fine, actually. The bet was strong."
"Oh? What was the bet?"
"First to actually enjoy the company of the other loses and owes the winner one hundred Galleons."
Katie's eyes turned into saucers. "That's a lot!"
"Yep."
"You already lost." She wiggled her eyebrows, and I could already feel the familiar heat creeping to my cheeks.
