A/N - I'm back! I'm sorry! I didn't write over the holidays, so here you go! Christmas in January, the most depressing month of the year.
----------
"y/n, wake up! It's Christmas!" I could feel Ginny bouncing on my bed, jostling from my sleep.
I groaned and rolled onto my back, cracking open my eyes to stare up at her while Hermione practically pried the ginger girl off my bed. "Do I have to get up?"
"Yes! Santa came!"
"Alright, alright." I sit up and pad my way downstairs with the girls, seeing most of the others already downstairs, staring at the mound of gifts. I sat myself on the floor comfortably between Fred and George.
George looked down at me and smiled. He grabbed a box and handed it to me. "I remember you complaining about needing better ones, so..."
I opened the box, seeing two new quills inside. "Oh! Thank you, Georgie!"
"'course, Munchkin." He ruffles my hair. I swat it away, giggling.
Fred huffs next to me. Then, he reaches behind him and pulls out a box. Without looking at me, he places it in my lap, mumbling a small 'merry Christmas'.
I stare down at the box curiously. How odd. It was slim and velvety with an orange bow almost identical to his hair color. Opening it slowly, I'm greeted with a silver chain. It was simple. But it shone like diamonds in the morning light. I can't help but smile. Even though he still wasn't looking at me, brooding with his chin on his hand, I whispered, "Thank you."
He grunted in response, so I left it at that. I put the chain on, then remembered that I never got him anything. Damnit...
Suddenly, I felt like the biggest arse in the world. I didn't get him anything, and this necklace alone likely cost his year's worth of savings - wait. Like he'd do anything like that. Who was I kidding? He wouldn't waste that money on me. Hm... but still. What do I get him?...
I decided to ignore it for now and head down with everyone to breakfast. I have never had pancakes so delicious before. Red and green sprinkles, hot chocolate, ginger bread cookies.
I bit the head off the man-shaped cookie, only for Ron to gasp as me and stare like I just killed his family member. "That's cannibalism!" He shouts, faking fear. "How dare you eat Fred! Or George! Or was that Bill?! My brother!!"
For a moment, I was baffled, confused. But then it clicked. Ginger... I burst out laughing. Everyone follows suit, but Fred just grumbles. I simply ignore it and keep laughing until the joke gets old.
By the time breakfast was done, I was more stuffed than a turkey at grandma's at Thanksgiving. I've never felt so full. Katie and Alicia managed to snag me away to our dorms.
"Ready for tonight?!" Alicia clapped her hands.
Katie joined, excited. "Of course! Who wouldn't be?!"
I just chuckle.
Alicia exclaims, "Merlin, maybe Fred will realize that y/n's so much better than Ange." She rolls her eyes but then immediately gets elbowed by Katie. "What?"
"Shut it."
"Yeah, yeah. Y/n, let's see your dress!"

A/N - Now, this is super late, I know. And shirt. I know that also. I finished my original book, so that definitely took most of that time. Don't worry, I'm trying to get back with the flow!
Also, I am so sorry for missing Christmas. That's when this was supposed to be posted, but I completely forgot about it 😅
So, to make it up to you all, Marry late Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Valentines Day!! It's 2025, now! New year! So let's just make it a good one, eh?
