●Fred's POV●
An hour had passed at the ball, but for me, it may as well have been seconds. I was having a blast with Angelina. All while being able to completely ignore my silent pining for y/n.
The tempo of the music picked up and I twirled Angelina, bringing a fit of laughter to her lips. Eventually, the music fades and I see my little brother pouting with the unlikely triwizard champion of Hogwarts himself, Harry Potter. Well they seem to have mended their friendship.
I walk toward them, getting a lovely kick out of Ron practically wearing out great aunt Tessy's drapes. "Ickle Ronnikins pouting cause he lost a date?"
"Shove off, you wanker." He shrugs me off, still staring dead ahead.
"Ah... Granger, eh?" I nudge him with my elbow. He was watching Hermione dance with the champion of Drumstrang, Viktor Krum. She looked quite nice in her periwinkle blue dress, but not as good as y/n. I directed my gaze to Harry, who was also pouting. Though, he was a bit better at hiding it. Following his line of sight, I saw- "Mate, you fancy my sister?!"
"He does..." Ron grumbled.
I squint hard, sizing up the chosen one. He seemed nice enough for her... "Eh."
Ron looked at me like I was bonkers. "'Eh'?!?!"
"Yep!" I grin. "Eh. But if he hurts her... You're getting beat with a bludger." I point an accusing finger at Harry.
He stares back and I don't fail to notice the look of fear wash over him. "I don't plan on it, Fred."
I grin, accepting it. Ginny's had a crush on Potter for years now. They'd be cute. Hopefully less awkward than the movies. "Alright. Where are your dates?" I look for the twin girls they brought here.
"Bloody left us." Ron whines. "But whatever. Where's your date?"
I point over at y/n before realizing my mistake and pointing at Angelina. My ear turns red hot when Harry grins, his eyes twinkling.
"That's the date you want." He put extra emphasis on the last word.
"Oh, whatever." I walk away, leaving Ron to pout and Harry to snicker to himself.
I migrate back to my actual date to the ball while she's whispering to Alicia, both of them glancing at y/n. They both quickly stop when they notice me. Alicia waves, then leaves, heading toward y/n as she talks with Diggory.
"Done teasing your brother?" Ange asks, looping her arms over my neck.
"Yeah. Lost their dates." I laugh.
Ange glances to her right with a nervous expression.
Before I can acknowledge and ask about what she's looking at, her lips are on mine. She was kissing me when I didn't want it to be her.
● Reader's POV ●
I was talking about quidditch with Cedric when Alicia came strutting over in her fantastic heels. But her face didn't give off the same energy as her body. She almost looked... Sorry.
"Hey, what's up? You okay?" I ask, dropping mine and Ced's conversation.
"Uh, yeah. Just checking up. Heels are killing me. Anyway, Ange wanted to know if you, Katie, her, and I wanted to go for a late night stroll. You know? As girls."
My eyes dart to Ange, Katie was sitting nearby while watching. Ange had her arms wrapped around Fred's neck while he laughed. I hardly notice her glance at me before she leans up on her toes. Then, in the blink of an eye, she locked them in a kiss. Fred's eyes went huge before he melted into it. Katie, mere meters away, had her jaw thudding to the floor.
I look at Alicia, who just looks back at me with an even more sorry expression than before.
I turn my eyes back to the two who were still snogging. I turn around completely, not even wanting to look at them. But even behind me, I can feel the eyes. Not on me, but on them.
George and Lee, who had been talking to Cedric two seconds ago over a drink, stood shell-shocked. Even Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny were struck with bewilderment.
I didn't know what to do. But I did know what not to do: Throw up, cry, yell, and run. So, in my dilemma, I-as calmly as I possibly could-left the ballroom. I hear a faint holler of my name, but I couldn't afford locking eyes with anyone because I would absolutely break down in a heap of tears.
I left. Where could I go? The common room? No. I'd get bombarded? Bathroom? There was a chance someone would find me, but then again, with how many there were here, I think my odds were in my favor. So, I go to the nearest bathroom before letting myself go. The tears form and fall.
Merlin... Dammit. I lost this stupid bet before it even started. 'first to actually become friends loses.' That's so incredibly foolish because I completely skipped the friends part. I went from hating him to fancying the lad.
Stupid girl...
And now the image of him kissing Ange would be forever engraved into my skull. Not even a piece of sandpaper would erase it now that it was there. And the fact that he looked like her was enjoying it hurt even more. But it shouldn't hurt because I'm supposed to hate him. I do hate him. No, that's a lie. He is really stupidly cute... With his lopsided smile, obnoxiously contagious laugh, penchant for joking around and possibly getting in trouble in the name of making others happy... No! y/n, stop it!
I might as well give him an extra fifty bonus galleons and be like, "Congrats! You also made me love you." at this rate... Did I even have a hundred Galleons? Probably not...
I lost this dumb bet before it even started...

A/N - uh... Okay, maybe I'm a bit sorry...
See you next time, Darlings! Xxx
