TW - misunderstanding trope :)
----------
I sat in the great hall, catching up on some old transfiguration homework that I had missed out on due to a cold
I blamed it on the huge party that Gryffindor hosted for Harry after he succeeded in gaining the golden egg. Who knew how many kids were sick at that damn party. I could have sworn that my ears still rung from that god awful screech that the egg made when he opened it.
I was just surprised that Fred and George, who had Harry on their shoulders while he opened the egg, didn't topple over at the noise.
"Hey, y/n." Cedric's smooth velvety voice walked up behind me, taking a seat next to me. "I noticed you were missing during transfiguration yesterday."
I nodded, confirming that his observations were correct. I was not in class yesterday and had told professor McGonagall that, but she said she'd still give the homework with a one day extension.
"I was just wondering if you wanted the answers from mine." He placed his satchel on his lap, digging through it until he found a small scroll of parchment that must have been the answers to the homework.
I smirked, my voice was still a bit croaky. "Mister prefect of Hufflepuff is helping me cheat on my homework?" I teased, taking the papers.
He rolled his eyes, "Yeah yeah. Just figured I'd help a friend out. Especially with that quiz coming up."
"Well, thank you, Ced. I could get this back to you for tomorrow if you like." I smiled, opening his scroll to see his elegant cursive. Personally, cursive was never my strong point. I just wrote letters and sometimes they'd connect.
"That would be nice, yeah. Yeah, tomorrow. See you tomorrow, y/n." He stood and walked away, his strides becoming a bit more planned as he passed the Ravenclaw table. I watched as he smiled at a particular Ravenclaw girl, Cho Chang. The seeker for their quidditch team.
My soft smile from earlier stretched into a Cheshire's grin when they flashed a smile at each other, Cho's friends elbowing and whispering to her once Cedric's back was turned.
It would appear that Prefect Diggory had a bit of a crush...
I packed up my things, that same grin struck across my face.
I wandered my way to the common room and was halfway there before an arm wrapped around my shoulders, causing me to flinch.
"What's got you smiling like that, hm?" George hummed, his orange hair tickling my face as he bent in front of me to look right at my face.
"What? I'm not smiling like anything."
"You're smiling like Fred, why?"
I pause. Did I really smile like him? Seriously? I decide to shrug it off and tell George why I was smiling like how I was.
"I think Cedric has a crush on our favorite Ravenclaw seeker." I tried to match my small steps to George's long fast strides.
He stopped, holding up a finger, telling me to wait while he rummaged in his pocket. He squinted, trying to feel his way around. He pulled out a neatly folded paper, which was surprising considering his and hos twin's rather poor organization skills.
He handed me the paper and I unfolded it, reading about an up and coming event next month.
"Oh, this is perfect..." I grinned, getting that mischievous twinkle in my eyes.
He snapped and pointed at my face, "O- there it is. The Fred grin." He laughed, patting me on the head. I giggled, swatting his hand away.
"So," He began, "Looks like we have a future romance with Diggory on our hands, eh?"
