After escaping the Maze, the Gladers are saved and taken to a facility where they're told they'd be safe. But after meeting ARIS, a boy from an all-girls Maze, Y/N and THOMAS learn that not everything is as it seems.
Then the Gladers are on the run again, this time with ARIS and they're on a mission to find THE RIGHT ARM, an organization that works to fight against WICKED and bring the company down.
But their adventure is easier said than done. The outside world isn't like it used to be. People who have been infected by the Flare turn into zombie-like creatures called Cranks, and the people who aren't infected aren't exactly nice. Basically, the Gladers can't trust anyone they meet.
And all while this is going on, Y/N starts to understand her feelings she's started to develop for THOMAS and begins to realize that she actually might like him more than just a friend.
And THOMAS, who's still trying his best to be the hero and save everyone, is still absolutely obsessed with her. Even if sometimes (most of the time) Y/N can't tell.
