tw: mentions of terrorist attack

———

taylor sat on the edge of her hotel bed, her phone gripped tightly in her hand. the news of the planned terrorist attack in vienna had left her shaken. she dialed travis's number, needing to hear his voice more than ever.

"hey, tay," travis answered, taylor's shaky breaths made him worried. "what's going on?"

"travis," she began, her voice breaking. "it's all my fault. the attack... it was supposed to happen during my show."

"what attack?" travis's voice held a note of confusion.

taylor hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "the vienna attack. there were plans to target the concert venue. i just... i can't shake this feeling that i'm to blame."

travis's voice softened. "taylor, you can't blame yourself for something like that. you had no way of knowing. it's not your fault."

"but what if it happens again?" she whispered, her tears falling freely. "what if my fans get hurt because of me? i can't bear the thought of putting them in danger."

"tay, listen to me," travis said gently. "you can't control the actions of others. you're doing everything you can to keep your fans safe. cancelling the vienna shows was the right decision, and if you need to cancel more, then that's what you'll do. but don't carry this burden alone."

taylor took a shaky breath, trying to absorb his words. "thank you, travis. i just needed to hear that."

"i'm always here for you, tay," he said softly.

"how about you get ready for bed baby, you look exhausted." travis said worried but calmly

she nodded, and headed to the bathroom and started brushing her teeth.

"so, today at football training, coach really pushed us hard. we have a big game coming up, and i think we're ready," his voice filled with a mix of exhaustion and excitement.

"i'm glad baby, i'm going to try and get some rest." she finished brushing her teeth and walked back to the bedroom, climbing into bed. she looked at him, her eyes filled with affection.

"goodnight," she whispered, her voice soft. "i love you."

"goodnight. i love you too," he replied softly.

as she settled into the covers, she couldn't help but think about how lucky she was to have him. "you know," she started, "i was really worried about the vienna thing, but hearing you talk about your day makes everything feel better."

he smiled, lying down also. "that's what i'm here for. to make things better,"

"tell me more about the game," she said, wanting to keep the conversation going a little longer.

"well, we have a new strategy that we're really excited about," he began, his voice animated. "it's something we've been working on for weeks, and i think it's finally coming together."

she listened intently, feeling the day's worries melt away with every word he spoke. his passion for football was infectious, and she loved hearing him talk about it.

eventually, his words started to blur as sleep began to take over. "i'm so proud of you," she mumbled, her eyes closing.

"and i'm proud of you," he whispered back, watching her drift off to sleep. "sweet dreams."

with that, she drifted off to sleep, feeling safe, loved, and ready to face whatever tomorrow might bring.
