NATHEARYS WAS SAD. Princess Rhaenyra had sailed to Dragonstone with her husband and son. It was no surprise that the princess's firstborn had left without saying goodbye; his indifference towards Nathearys was already evident. However, she had hoped that after apologizing and seeing a glimpse of remorse in the young man's brown eyes, things would improve. She was wrong. It did not surprise her, but it hurt deeply that, even going to a distant place, he hadn't thought of her, not even to say goodbye. She wouldn't know when they would meet again, and he had left as if it were nothing.

Of course, her cousin Rhaenyra, along with Luke, had taken the time to bid her farewell. The princess had even brought her a necklace of beautiful rubies, saying it was a gift "from princess to princess." Luke, the adorable and pure Luke, gave her a beautiful brooch that would perfectly hold her long and voluminous silver hair, adorned with the same precious stones as the necklace. They even offered Nathearys and the young Blackwood to accompany them to Dragonstone. However, the offer was complicated. The girl was extremely attached to the uncle of the heir to the throne, and besides, her Hightower-Targaryen cousins also held her back. Of course, it hurt not to see Luke and Jace anymore, but at least she knew that Queen Alicent Hightower's children adored and genuinely cared for her, something Jace never did.

It hurt, she couldn't deny the obvious. But maybe it was for the better. She had spent too much time trying to get the attention of Jacaerys Velaryon, and he had only responded with indifference and hostility. Maybe it wasn't what she wanted, but it was what she needed. She could focus on more important things than a young man who had rejected her for so long. She kept telling herself this, but it still hurt. She adored Rhaenyra and it pained her to be apart, but she also knew her cousin would be better off in Dragonstone than in King's Landing.

That night, as she watched the sunset from her window, Nathearys reflected on her future. King's Landing was full of intrigues and dangers, and perhaps, in Rhaenyra's absence, she could find her own path and purpose.
