Linux leaned in closer, his voice firm but soft.
"Stop making excuses," he said, grabbing her hand and guiding her toward his car.
Meanwhile, Rehza was at home, comfortably watching her series when someone knocked on her door. She sighed, reluctantly pausing her show, and opened the door to find Mania standing there, a playful smile on his face.
"You forgot your top at my place, so I thought I'd return it," he said, holding it out.
Rehza took the top, expecting him to leave.
"Aren't you going to invite me in?" he asked, his smile unwavering.
"Oh, yeah, sorry, my mistake," she said, forcing a smile.
Mania walked in and settled himself on her sofa, looking around with a critical eye.
"Your house is so messy; you should at least clean it," he commented.
Rehza felt a surge of irritation. "Stop being rude," she huffed in frustration.
Without warning, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto his lap, her hand instinctively wrapping around his neck, their faces inches apart. She could feel his breath against her skin, warm and intoxicating.
"You'll come to know how rude I can be, but not today because you're sick, my little baby," he whispered, his voice low and teasing.
Rehza felt a rush of heat to her cheeks, her face turning visibly red. She quickly stood up, trying to compose herself, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Who said I'm sick?" she asked, her voice shaky.
"Aren't you?" Mania asked, a smirk playing on his lips.
"I'm not sick. Can't you see I'm perfectly fine?" she insisted, her voice faltering slightly.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Rehza, grateful for the interruption, went to open the door and found Zaina and Linux standing there. She noticed Zaina's discomfort immediately, but Zaina's forced smile made her question if she was just overthinking.
"Come in," Rehza said, stepping aside to let them in.
Linux greeted Mania, and Rehza did the same. They all started chatting, but Zaina remained unusually quiet, her eyes distant.
Suddenly, Linux cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. "Zaina and I are getting engaged soon. We'll send you the engagement card soon," he announced.
Rehza and Mania were momentarily stunned. Zaina's smile was thin but genuine as she nodded to confirm.
"It's true," she said softly.
Rehza's surprise quickly turned to joy. She hugged Zaina tightly. "Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both."
The evening continued smoothly, with light conversation and laughter, but there was a lingering tension in the air. Finally, Zaina and Linux left, leaving Rehza and Mania alone again.
Mania stood up, ready to leave, but then turned back to her, his expression serious and intense.
"Be ready for tomorrow, my sweetheart. Don't worry, I won't be too rude. Count it as punishment for lying to me," he said, his voice low and promising.
Rehza's heart raced, confusion and curiosity swirling in her mind. What did he mean? Before she could think or ask, he was already out the door, leaving her standing there, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts.
