"Hey, Arushi! Are you feeling okay? Where are you lost?" I heard someone call my name, shaking me, holding my shoulder, bringing me out of my trance. I turned towards my left; Sadhvi was the one calling me. We were bench mates, and she must have noticed that I was very much awfully quite today."Just say the truth Arushi; we know something has been bothering you lately", said Dhwani my other best friend who was sitting in front of me. Both of them were looking at me, and I knew there's no way I could go around lying to them. Since the first day of college we have been inseparable, and we shared many deep secrets. And they deserve to know too what was going on.
"Guys, I actually have something to tell but you all cannot judge me." I stated before inhaling a lot of air preparing myself to confess the truth. I had a very firm belief that they won't judge me no matter what but still, the topic was not that easy. They exchanged glances and nodded their heads in silence giving me the signal to continue.
"Guys I think I am in love", these words only brought a smile on their faces but as soon as I completed, their smiles dropped. "It's our biology professor, Mr. Rathore." Sadhvi gasped and placed her palm on her lips, while Dhwani, even though showed less reaction than Sadhvi but still look quite surprised by my declaration.
"Girl, are you really really really sure about what you are saying? Look we won't judge you, but still he is quite older than you, and you or we none of us know anything about it." Dhwani spoke. She had calm expressions, and was trying to handle the situation as much calmly as possible, while on my side Sadhvi was sitting speechless and was basically looked like she was losing her mind.
"I am not confused about my feelings." I started as they looked at me intently waiting for me to continue. "I am quite sure that I am in love with him. Honestly at first I wanted to deny all my feelings, because it seemed wrong. But every time I look at him, I feel like I am falling in love with him more and more. And it also hurts. Whenever, I realize that our chances of ending up together are low, it hurts. You know last day, I heard him talking to Miss Sana, and he agreed to go on a date with her."
They looked at me being concerned when I narrated what happened last day. "But this is also not where the problem lies, he makes me feel confused. That day, in the shopping mall I met him at the outskirts, and his eyes they held a fire, fire of jealousy. As if he wasn't happy that some other guy touched me even if it was accidentally. And then even though he didn't accept the chocolates from the other girls, saying he hates the smell, he accepted the chocolate cupcakes I offered him. And this is why he confuses me always."
