I was surprised by how nice the venue our school rented was. The room was tinted with pink, blue, and purple. The room featured nicely set tables. They had white tablecloths with glass plates and cups on each. In the middle was the dance floor that was unoccupied since the dance hadn't started yet. When I looked up, I saw a beautiful crystal chandelier.

I was wearing a royal blue tuxedo with a black tie and black Oxfords. My curls actually looked healthy. Dad has been scolding me for not taking care of my hair, so I decided to do that since I didn't want it to look all messy and dead during homecoming. Mysha was dressed in an off-the-shoulder silver sparkle mermaid dress with silver accessories and heels. Her hair was up in a neat bun.

Mysha left me to meet up with her friends and her date—I don't know what guy she's into now. I started walking around, looking for my friends, whom I eventually found. Destiny and Atticus were matching. Destiny's dress was black and sparkly with a slit. She wore silver accessories and heels. Her hair was plaited neatly, reaching her waist. This time she went with the color Burgundy for her braids, which really suited her. Atticus had on a black tux with black dress shoes, and his hair was in an afro.

"You guys look great," I said.

"You do too," Destiny said. "I can't wait for Elliot and Sasha to get here so we can take group photos."

"That's if Elliot even wants to be in the photo," Atticus said.

"Have you guys got food yet?" I asked.

"Nope, but we can go now if you want. It's just down the hall."

I nodded quickly. I was starving since I saved my appetite for the food here. We left out of the ballroom and went down the hall to the room where they kept the food. The minute the smell from the food reached my nose, my mouth started watering. I quickly grabbed a plate and began filling it with chicken and macaroni and cheese. I grabbed a cup and poured some fruit punch inside. I then just stared at the cup, remembering the night of Russell's party. Am I seriously still on this?

Atticus made me jump back to reality when he grabbed the cup out of my hand. I gave him a small smile before me, and he and Destiny went back to the ballroom and sat down at our table to eat. As we did, Atticus waved towards someone. I turned to see who it was, and it was Sasha. She had on a long-sleeve fairy midi dress paired with white flats. She had half her hair up being held in a white bow and the rest down. The end of her long brown hair was curled.

"Oh my gosh," Destiny said. "You look so pretty!"

"Thanks. You do too," she said as she sat next to me.

"Are you hungry?" I asked. "I can walk with you down the hall."

"Oh, no," she said. "My great-grandma visited, and she made lamb pilaf and pork lion steaks. I knew I should've saved my appetite, but I couldn't resist the temptation."

Her attention shifted to somewhere behind me. I turned and saw that Russell and Lizzie were sitting at a table with their friends. They were matching in gray. Russell saw us and waved, but we quickly looked away.

"He's been texting me constantly," Sasha said. "Should I just block him?"

"Most definitely," Destiny said.

"I feel like he's just using you as like a second option if him and Lizzie don't work out," Atticus said. "You don't deserve that."

"What are you idiots talking about?" Elliot said from behind me.
