Ishan sat there on the bunk with a heavy sigh, staring at the concrete wall of his small prison cell. The silence was deafening, only the faint hum of the dim overhead light reaching his ears. He could almost see his thoughts reflecting in the cold, grey surface, a mirror to his troubled mind.
Night had fallen outside but time seemed frozen in this small, concrete box. The weight of his mistakes pressed down on his shoulders, heavy like the chains they hadn't physically shackled him with.
The sound of footsteps approaching outside the cell walls broke the near-complete silence in the prison corridor. Each measured step echoed in the quiet night, signaling the arrival of someone who could disturb the fragile peace inside his cell.
Ishan's gaze flicked towards the cell door, he got tensed and scared His mind raced, trying to figure out who could be approaching him at this late hour in the prison.
A officer stepped into view outside the cell, standing tall and looking directly at Ishan. Though it was too dark to see his face properly, Ishan could feel his gaze on him.
The lack of light only enhanced the sense of unease, casting deep shadows that made it difficult to read the officer's expression. Ishan's thoughts raced as he wondered what business this officer might have with him so late at night.
"So you killed Sir, huh?" The officer's low, dangerous voice broke the silence, the words hitting Ishan like a ton of bricks.
Ishan's body tensed, his heart racing as he recognized the voice. The officer's last sentence sent a shiver down his spine, and he swallowed hard, his mind racing on how to respond.
The officer seemed to be waiting for an answer but Ishan's mind was too frozen to think of one. He tried to open his mouth to speak but the words died in his throat.
The silence seemed to stretch on for an eternity as tension filled the air, the weight of the accusation heavy on Ishan's shoulders.
"If you had just accepted the 10 lacks and kept your mouth shut like a good boy, none of this would have happened" the officer said, His tone became mocking as he continued, the words hitting Ishan like a jolt of electricity.
Ishan's heart pounded even harder in his chest, and he could feel a cold sweat starting to form on his forehead.
The officer seemed to revel in Ishan's obvious discomfort, taking another step closer to the cell fence.
"But you just had to be difficult, didn't you?" he said, his voice low and dangerous. "And now here you are, sitting in a cell like the criminal you are."
Ishan's anger flared at the officer's words, and he couldn't help but respond.
"What I did wasn't wrong!" he exclaimed, his voice rising in volume. "The real criminal here is not me, it's YOU!"
The officer chuckled, seemingly amused by Ishan's outburst.
"Oh, so now you're suddenly the saint, hm?" he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Trying to put the blame on others, typical criminal behavior."
Ishan's heart pounded in his chest, the frustration building inside him. He knew that the officer was just toying with him, but he couldn't help but rise to the bait.
"You just don't u-understand!" he protested, his voice slightly cracking. "I had my r-reasons, reasons you wouldn't understand!"
The officer's maniacal laughter echoed through the cell, sending chills down Ishan's spine.
"Reasons? Ha!" the officer barked, his manic energy filling the small cell. "You think you can justify your actions with 'reasons'? That's rich!"
