Scarlett's pov:

I woke up with a jolt, momentarily disoriented as I took in my unfamiliar surroundings. It took me a second to remember that I was in Paris, in the small apartment I'd rented for a few days. Breathing deeply to steady myself, I reached for my phone to check the time. '9:35 am'—I'd had a decent amount of sleep.

Feeling refreshed, I got up and stretched, grateful that I hadn't bothered with makeup for the trip. I walked out of the bedroom and headed straight for the small bathroom. After brushing my teeth, I stripped off my clothes and turned on the shower, stepping inside as the warm water cascaded over my skin. The sensation was comforting against my skin.

After taking a much-needed shower, I went through my morning routine, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. I chose a classy outfit—an elegant black dress with long sleeves that tastefully exposed my chest, paired with black heels and stockings, my hair down in waves around my back and shoulders. The outfit made me feel confident and polished.

Next, I moved on to makeup, keeping it light and natural with just a hint of foundation, a touch of mascara, and a soft red lipstick that added a pop of color. Satisfied with my look, I grabbed a small purse, tucking my money and phone inside.

After double-checking that everything was in its place, I grabbed my new keys and headed out, locking the door behind me. I carefully descended the stairs of the building and stepped outside, glancing left and right before deciding to head left. I had no particular destination in mind; I just wanted to wander and explore the unknown corners of Paris I had never seen before.

As I strolled down the street, I observed the people around me. Some walked hand in hand with their partners, others were absorbed in their phones, and a few seemed to be taking in the beautiful architecture of the city. There was a carefree vibe in the air, and I felt a sense of freedom as I joined the flow of the city.

My stomach suddenly grumbled, reminding me that I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. I pulled out my phone and searched for the nearest café or restaurant where I could grab a bite to eat. After a few minutes, I found a place called "Café de Vauclair." The menu pictures looked mouthwatering, and just thinking about the food made my stomach growl even louder, causing me to blush in embarrassment.

I tapped the 'start' button on my phone's map, and it began guiding me toward the café. It was only a 10-minute walk from where I was. As I made my way there, I couldn't help but admire my surroundings. The tall, elegant buildings seemed to close in around me and then open up to the sky, framing the scene beautifully. The streets were alive with people, and I noticed couples walking hand in hand, sharing quiet moments that made me wish I had someone to share this experience with. I almost started to think I was destined to be alone, I can't seem to keep a marriage.

Shaking my head to clear away the negative thoughts, I tried to focus on the positive. Who knows? Maybe I could meet someone special here in Paris, even if it felt like a far-off dream. Just as I was lost in my thoughts, the GPS voice announced, "You have arrived at your destination," snapping me back to reality.

I tucked my phone back into my purse and opened the door to the café, the bell ringing, announcing my presence. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a cozy, warm atmosphere with an old-fashioned charm that I instantly loved. The café had a small shelf filled with books, perfect for a quiet afternoon of reading. There was a corner where people could sit down, hang out, or study together, giving the space a friendly, inviting vibe.

Tables were scattered around another corner, offering a sense of privacy for those who wanted it. Finally, my eyes landed on the counter, where a woman stood with a welcoming smile on her face. The whole place felt like a hidden gem, and I knew I'd made the right choice in coming here.
