A coffee with poison

I stood in front of the Tulip hospital again. Who would've thought I'd have to come so many times a week here? Never in my life would I have thought that. I stared at the receptionist through the glassed doors, It shined so bright I could see my own reflection, my dark circles have never been more visible. I need sleep, I used to never be able to last a day without sleep, but here I am, went 2 days without sleep. Not a flex to be honest. 

"Hey sir."

"Here we meet again ma'am, what brings you here?, sickness?"

"I wouldn't be surprised if I was sick considering the sleep I have not been getting but, I really need your help. We're friends right?"

"Yes of course, I just hope its something I can actually do tho."

"Sir, could you give me the family information about the doctor who resigned yesterday? Or where he is now?"

"That information is confidential ma'am."

Here we go, the words i exactly expected coming out of his mouth.

"Sir, I need you. you are the only person who can help me now. I'm investigating right now. I need this information. No one will know you gave me this."

"I'm not allowed to do this, I could get in real trouble."

"Listen man, I'm in the verge of falling apart, i want to fix this puzzle. It's the only thing keeping me falling into pieces, this isn't what so ever related to what I'm asking for but my house, family, friends, literally everything is falling apart. I need this please."

"I have no idea why I am saying all of this to you but he's at his house which is 5 hours away from here and he is also living with his daughter, He is working in a new hospital."

"And where is this house and the hospital?"

"Both are near to each other, I'll send ya the location of his house. He won't be there now tho.."

Perfect. I don't need him, I need his daughter.

He send me the location a bit after. I drove to their. It was pretty far, reasonable for someone running away.

I checked my phone to see if my mom had texted me. The contact list, Lia suddenly disappeared, no trace of her in my phone number contact list or Instagram. I remember texting on Instagram, where were the texts? I felt dizzy, stopped the car and parked it on the side of nowhere. Is this the right way? Where's the texts? What is going o-

I fainted.

Minutes go by

Hours go by

I suddenly jerk awake and rub my eyes, everything feels so unreal, Filled with emptiness, I took my phone to check again, there I saw Lia's contact. I don't know what happened to me then. My lack of sleep is really taking over me.

The sun will set in a few hours, I need to reach the doctor's daughters house before the doctor comes back. I drove faster and since the roads were free of cars. I reached pretty quick.

There, I stood in front of a huge mansion, 'huge' would be an understatement. Gold paint over it, it was painted recently, there was a whole swimming pool in front of the house, golden benches and tables filled the empty front yard. It looked almost like a public fancy pool.

I rang the doorbell hoping the daughter would open stating she's home alone.

The door opens pretty quickly, A woman in her mid twenties opens the door with a smile on her face which disappears when she sees my face. She was about 5'10, the perfect teeth that shined when she smiled, her eyes were small, her nose dived downward, her smile had a frown in it. Almost as if there was a bit of sadness in her smile, her hair was pin straight. 

"Who are you?" She asks abruptly

"I am Divya." I say lying

"Do you need anything?"

"I will need to ask you a few things, I am a police just for your information." Thankfully, she didn't ask for a badge. She let me in quick and gave me a cup of coffee which I refused.

I sat on a small living room with the prettiest chandelier I've ever laid my eyes on. With a small living room like this, I couldn't help but wonder what took all the space in their mansion. She sat across the room gawking at me, I had to break the silence.

"Ma'am, As I told, I am Divya, working in crime investigation department. I'd like to ask you a few questions about your father who is a doctor in my knowledge."

"Yes, he is a doctor, what did he do?"

"Nothing much, I just want a bit of information about his pasts and where abouts now. Where does he live?"

"He lives with me, He has been for a few days?"

"Did he state any reason for this sudden need to live with you? He also quit his job right?"

"He said something about how a girl died under his administration, she killed herself and he feels guilty for it. He said he wanted to escape from there. He knew the girl well."

"I see, in your opinion, is he the type to seek revenge?"

"No, he has hated people in his life, he talks about this one woman all the time, she killed my sister and that's what he says, I'm not so sure about it since I was abroad at that time."

"And what was the name of your sister?"

"Ava."

"Has he mentioned any plans about killing this person that killed your sister?"

"Yes, some day, he knew she would come to him."

I think Sofie could have killed Ava, makes sense why he would want to kill her. The puzzles match perfectly.

"You said your father knew the girl who died very well. How exactly?"

"They dated years before she died. To be honest, he didn't look that upset about it. She was only 18 when he dated her, their age gap is huge."

They had history? Why would Sofie kill Ava? That's not it then..

"Ava. Have you seen her?"

"No, the person who killed her was her close friend which confuses me, why would they do that? And they also didn't come to her funeral. She should've considering no one knows about it and she was Ava's best friend."

"She?"

"I m-meant they." She stuttered. She quickly took her phone and texted something. The rang bell.

"Please drink the coffee ma'am, It will be offensive if you don't."

I felt forced, obliged, I acted like drinking it, accidentally swallowing some of the cold coffee, Something felt weird, eerie.

I suddenly felt unconscious. Realizing i actually sipped the coffee, I felt stupid, making a mistake I knew was on my way. Dizziness took over my body. Slowly fainting into sleep..
