Scene XVII

Young Canada POV

I stare at my sister who's wrapped in bandages. I never knew it would come to this. I never knew she would kill Confederate. I sigh, stroking her soft bruised cheek. She has endured a lot and as Darwin says, this is the survival of the fittest. Even with the best care, Confederate still died. She didn't live up to my expectations or father's expectations. Union—America prevailed.

For the past four months, I have been making sure if America's okay. Of course, I couldn't tell anyone, but I actually care about her—somewhat. After every fight with Confederate she would flee. I followed her around every corner to find her always making it back to China's house. At first, I was skeptical. I thought China was still here in the county. However, I soon realized that my assumptions were wrong.

China left for good.

Although I still hate his guts, I have to say thanks. My sister had everything she needed to survive for a few months. I can tell he loves her, but he is a threat. And now that he's gone, he's less of a threat. He'll probably forget about her. I can only hope he does.

I watch Father as he writes down some notes on a sheet of paper. He then pours some chemicals together and adds some white powder making it all mushy. I don't know what he is doing, but he is making some pills so that he can erase the trauma America endured during her four months away fighting Confederate and killing her own sister.

I was glad I brought a tranquilizer to school that day. If not, I wouldn't know how America would cope with the loss of her family member. Of course, I didn't really care, but knowing America, she is very soft. But this side of her is new and must be controlled. If she acted that way again, all hell would break loose.

I could tell she felt the power that she held.

"Don't worry little sister. You're in good hands." I whisper softly in her ear. I know she can't hear me but her unconscious mind might. "Just promise to obey my every command and I will ensure your safety."

Ever since our war, I've hated her because she never listened to me. I was able to control everyone at school but never her so I made everyone stop talking to her. If they did talk to her, I will punish them severely.

China had the guts to break that rule. When I tried punishing him, he would always be able to outdo me and I hated that. I'm glad I got rid of him. And with me pretending to be friends with him, I told him all the bad things my Father does to America. He gets pretty shocked and angered at the news. I told him that my Father doesn't like America and would want to watch her suffer. Why did I tell him all this? Well, to direct that hate towards my Father instead of me when he gets expelled. It wasn't me. It was my Father. That reminds me.

"Father, will she still remember China? And what will happen to the people who saw the murder?" I ask, hoping not to disturb my Father.

Father doesn't take his eyes off his concoction and begins pouring it into some capsules. "She will forget China. And do not worry about everyone else. They will forget too." He says.

I nod my head, "thank you Father. I hope she recovers well." I look at her innocent face. America is prettier than Confederate by tons. If she didn't fight against me, I probably would've promoted her like how I did for Confederate.

Father pours the newly created pills into a container and seals it. "If she wakes up, tell her she has to take one pill each day for strength." Father says plainly, giving me the container. "These pills will ensure that she forgets that she killed her sister."
