As the final day of initiation approached, the tension within Dauntless reached a breaking point. The initiates were on edge, the pressure of the final test looming over them. But it wasn't just the initiates who were feeling the strain—Abby and Eric could sense the unrest simmering beneath the surface.

The final test was a trial by fire, a brutal series of challenges designed to push the initiates to their absolute limits. It was the ultimate test of courage, of resolve, and only those who could withstand it would earn their place in Dauntless.

"Are you ready?" Eric asked Abby as they stood at the edge of the pit where the final test would take place.

"As ready as I'll ever be," Abby replied, her voice steady but her mind racing. She had seen this test break even the strongest initiates, and she knew that this year would be no different.

The initiates gathered, their faces a mix of determination and fear. Peter was among them, his expression set, but Abby could see the doubt lingering in his eyes. She wanted to reassure him, to tell him that he could do this, but she knew that this was a journey he had to take on his own.

One by one, the initiates were called to face their final test. Each trial was different, tailored to exploit their deepest fears, their greatest weaknesses. Some succeeded, others failed, and with each failure, the tension within the crowd grew.

When Peter's name was called, Abby held her breath, her heart pounding in her chest. She watched as he stepped forward, his face pale but resolute. He disappeared into the darkness of the pit, and all she could do was wait.

Minutes passed, each one dragging on longer than the last. Abby's mind raced with a thousand possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. But she kept her face impassive, knowing that any sign of weakness could be exploited.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Peter emerged from the pit. He was bruised, battered, but he was standing. He had survived.

"Congratulations," Eric said, his voice loud enough for all the initiates to hear. "You've earned your place in Dauntless."

The crowd erupted into cheers, but Abby barely heard them. Her eyes were locked on Peter, who was looking at her with a mixture of relief and exhaustion. She nodded at him, a silent acknowledgment of his strength, and he gave her a tired smile in return.

But the moment of triumph was short-lived. As the cheers died down, a voice rang out from the crowd, sharp and accusing.

"Enough of this charade!"

The crowd fell silent
