"WHERE IS SHE?" matt demands as he leans on the locker next to hope. his tone is forceful, but he attempts to soften it as he speaks.
hope groans audibly. he's been asking her the same question since vivienne stopped showing up at school, a long time ago. with each passing day without even catching a small glimpse of her, a part of him feels like it's breaking.
"let's use our brains," she says before slamming the locker in his face and storming off, clutching her books to her chest.
ignoring her snide remark, matt refuses to give up so easily. he follows behind her, his teeth gritted and struggling to keep his composure. "when is she coming back?"
"i don't know."
"you said that last week, the week before, and the week before that, hope," he reminds her harshly. "tell me." it's not a request, but a demand.
she begins to speed walk, luckily matt's faster. it's obvious hope is loyal towards vivienne, which is definitely a good thing. matt just wants one confirmation either when she's coming back or if she's at least okay so at this very minute, he's wishing she'd break her loyalty just by a slight.
